Amazon is the world's largest online retailer, making it an ideal place to sell books and other items. Selling on Amazon is the perfect solution for anyone looking to make some money selling things they no longer need.

Steps

Part 1 of 4: Create a Seller Account

  1. 1 On the Amazon home page click "Your Account" (under your name in the upper right corner of the page).
  2. 2 Click on “Your Seller Account” (at the top of the right column).
  3. 3 Click “Start Selling”. A new page will open where you can select the type of seller: “Individual Sellers” or “Professional Sellers”. Individual sellers are generally exempt from fees (excluding Amazon commission on every order), while professional sellers pay various fees; professional sellers are those who own profitable online and offline stores.
  4. 4 On the next page, enter the required information, such as your bank card details (you will need it in cases where you need to refund money for a sold item without selling other items), the seller's name, and the billing address.
  5. 5 Enter your phone number and tap “Call now”, then after receiving an automatic call on your phone, enter the 4-digit PIN code provided to you.
  6. 6 Click Register and Continue.

Part 2 of 4: Listing an item for sale

  1. 1 Log in to your Amazon account. If you have not yet created an Amazon account, go to the login page, enter your email address, click “No” instead of entering a password, click the “Submit” button, and then follow the onscreen prompts. Here you need to enter your name, email address and password. It takes only a few minutes.
  2. 2 Select the category that matches your product through your keyword search. Keywords can include the title of a product, book, or movie, as well as a version of the product. You can also search by ISBN, UPC or ASIN. It is very important to find the exact version and format of your product so that customers get exactly what they ordered. Be careful: unsatisfied customers will leave negative reviews for you.
    • Amazon will also provide you with a list of the latest items purchased on this site, so if you want to sell one of those items, you can select it from the list.
  3. 3 Click “Sell yours here” after you have found an item.
  4. 4 Select the condition of your item. While you can sell items as Collectible, most sellers choose one of the following item states: Used-Like New, Used-Very Good, Used-Good Good), "Used-Acceptable". If you want to sell an item as “Collectible”, there are some additional conditions and requirements that must be met.
  5. 5 You can enter an additional item condition description to inform customers of item condition details (see below). You can also include a note about your services. For example:
    • without a box;
    • without instructions;
    • scratches on the case;
    • Express delivery.
  6. 6 Set a price. You can set any price, but it is better to set the price below the selling price of Amazon or below the prices of your competitors.
  7. 7 Indicate the quantity of the product that is in stock. Individual sellers typically indicate "1".
  8. 8 Indicate the delivery method and regions to which you agree to ship the goods. You can choose express delivery, but it will require fulfillment of some additional conditions and requirements. If you are an individual seller, it is best to limit yourself to shipping within your own country.
  9. 9 Click "Submit listing" to list the item for sale on Amazon. If you do not have a seller account, then you will have to create a seller account (see the previous section) and then list the item for sale.

Part 3 of 4: Packaging and Shipping

  1. 1 Sign in to your merchant account.
  2. 2 Click on "View your recent Marketplace orders" under "Manage Your Orders".
  3. 3 Find your order.
  4. 4 Make sure the order has been completed, that is, the product is ready to ship. Click on the order number.
  5. 5 The Order Detail page opens.
  6. 6 Confirm the shipping method.
  7. 7 Print the packing list and address. You can do this by clicking "View your current orders" - "Print packing slip" (next to the order). The packing list contains information about the product and the address of the recipient.
  8. 8 Pack the goods so that they will not be damaged during transportation. Put the packing list inside the package, and stick the address (or write) on the outside of the package.
  9. 9 Send the item the way you want (or the way the customer wants). Remember that the sooner a customer receives the item, the more likely they are to leave a positive review.
  10. 10 Confirm sending. Click Vview your orders - Confirm shipment and enter your shipment information.
  11. 11 Get paid. Only in case of confirmation of dispatch, the value of the goods will be transferred from the buyer's account to the seller's account. For sellers who sell goods for the first time, money is credited to the account only after 14 days (due to some legal restrictions).

Part 4 of 4: Account Management

  1. 1 Sign in to your merchant account (via the link on the right). All the necessary links are displayed on your seller page. You will be using the following main links:
    • View your current inventory.
    • "View your orders".
    • View your payments account.
  2. 2 "Seller account information". Use this link to update / change any merchant account information.
  3. 3 If you need information about a specific order, use the search bar to find it.
  4. 4 As soon as one of your items is sold, you will receive a confirmation email. The delivery time depends on the demand for your product. Popular items sell within hours (assuming you've set an adequate price).
  5. 5 View your customer reviews and your ratings. The higher your rating and the more positive reviews you have, the more likely customers will buy from you. Click View your ratings and feedback to view your ratings and feedback.
  6. 6 Expand the range of products sold and serve customers at the highest level.
  7. 7 If necessary, return money (in whole or in part) for the sold item if the buyer is not happy with it or your services. To do this, click on “Issue a refund for an order” on your merchant account page.

Tips

  • Check your email regularly to keep up to date on what items have been sold and send them on time.
  • Sellers must package and ship the item within two days of the date of sale.
  • Do not provide false information about the product - you will receive a negative review.
  • The item can be listed on Amazon within 30-60 days; after this period, the product description page will be removed.
  • Only include Amazon experience on your resume if you're looking for an offline salesperson job.
  • Keep an eye on messages from buyers, which can be found in the "Notifications" section (in the left column of the seller's account home page).
  • You must return money for the product sold according to Amazon's requirements (although they can be circumvented).
  • On Amazon, sellers are referred to as "Marketplace Seller".
  • New Years and summer months are the best times to sell various products.
  • Amazon requires buyers and sellers to contact exclusively through the Amazon site. Amazon does not provide buyers email addresses to sellers.

Warnings

  • You will not receive payment if the buyer left a claim for non-receipt of the goods.
  • Amazon does not charge taxes on goods sold. Therefore, do not mention any taxes on the item sold on the packing list. You can specify payment options that Amazon accepts, but you don't need to ask to call Amazon to discuss financial matters.
  • Amazon charges the seller a small commission, which is automatically deducted from the seller's account when an item is sold.
