Steps

Method 1 of 5: Simple Fruit Salad

  1. 1 Choose fruit. Buy good fresh fruits and berries from the market or your local grocery store. Make sure they are ripe enough for a salad. If they are not ripe, then the salad will be difficult to chew. It's better to keep the fruit a little overripe than unripe so the flavors blend well. For a simple fruit salad, you will need strawberries, cherries, blueberries, red apples, peaches, and kiwis.
  2. 2 Wash fruits and berries. It's important to wash all the fruit before chopping it up for salad.
  3. 3 Cut the cherries in half. To prevent cherry pits in the salad, chop 1 cup of red cherries before adding them to the salad. Just cut each berry in half and remove the pit.
  4. 4 Chop strawberries, red apple, peach, kiwi. Place 1 cup strawberries, 1 cup cherries, 1/2 red apple, 1/2 peach and 1 kiwi fruit on a cutting board and cut them into small pieces about 1 inch (2.5 cm) in size.
  5. 5 Place the fruit in a bowl. The bowl can be pre-moistened with 2 tbsp. l. lemon juice to add flavor to the fruit and prevent it from oxidizing quickly. Place strawberries, chopped cherries, 1/2 red apple, 1/2 peach, 1 kiwi, and 1/2 cup blueberries in a bowl. The fruits in the bowl can be stirred slightly to blend the flavors.
  6. 6 Serve. This dish can be served at room temperature or slightly chilled. A glass of orange juice will work well with the salad - it will help the fruity aroma emerge.

Method 2 of 5: Simple Fruit Salad with Orange Juice

  1. 1 Pour 1 cup of orange juice into a bowl.
  2. 2 Place the chopped plain fruit salad ingredients in a bowl. Let them sit in orange juice for at least 5 minutes.
  3. 3 Serve. Drain the orange juice from the salad bowl and enjoy a delicious citrus-flavored platter. If you love orange juice, you can drain it into a cup and drink it, or even eat a fruit salad along with the juice.

Method 3 of 5: Avocado Fruit Salad

  1. 1 Slice the avocado. Remove the seeds from 3 medium ripe California avocados and cut the fruit into slices. To do this, you can cut the avocado in half, remove the pit and, without peeling, make longitudinal and transverse cuts all the way to the rind. The avocado cubes can then be removed with a spoon.
  2. 2 Place the avocado cubes in a bowl.
  3. 3 Drizzle 2 tablespoons over the avocado. l. lemon juice. Stir until the juice hits all the pieces.
  4. 4 Drain the juice, but do not empty it. Set the avocado aside.
  5. 5 Prepare a dressing. In a small bowl, combine 1/2 cup plain yogurt, 2 tbsp. l. honey and 1 tsp. grated lemon zest.
  6. 6 Combine fruit and avocado in a large bowl. Chop and add 1 medium apple, 1 medium strong banana, 1 cup seedless grapes, and 1 can (300 g) canned tangerines without syrup to a bowl.
  7. 7 Season the salad. Pour the dressing over the fruit and stir the ingredients.

Method 4 of 5: Tropical Fruit Salad

  1. 1 Prepare your fruit. Peel and chop 1 large pineapple, chop 2 ripe mangoes, slice 2 bananas, chop 1/2 cup canned lychee without syrup and add 1/2 cup fresh pomegranate seeds. Stir the ingredients.
  2. 2 Leave the fruit in the refrigerator for 1 day. This is enough time for the flavors to mix.
  3. 3 Toast 2 tablespoons. l. sweet coconut flakes over medium heat. Cook it for 1-2 minutes, until golden brown.
  4. 4 Place the coconut flakes on a plate.
  5. 5 Sprinkle the coconut on the salad.
  6. 6 Serve. Tropical fruit salad can be eaten with mango juice or as a stand-alone dish.

Tips

  • If you are making an apple salad, add lime juice to it or keep the salad in the refrigerator to prevent the apples from darkening.
  • Bananas darken quickly. If you don't expect to eat all of your cooked salad at once, cut up the bananas and drizzle a little lemon juice over them before mixing them with the rest of the ingredients.
  • To make a fruit cocktail salad, use 1-2 cups of good orange juice and 3 tbsp. l. up to 1/3 cup sugar, depending on the number of servings you want to make.
  • Use a variety of slicing methods to give your fruit salad a distinctive and appealing look. Make round, square, oval pieces. Take small cookie cutters and cut different shapes of fruit with them. Children can be involved in this fun activity.
  • If you have a watermelon, make a salad bowl out of it - cut the watermelon lengthwise a few centimeters further from the center, remove the pulp from it with a spoon, then put the prepared salad in it. If desired, the second part of the watermelon can be used as a lid.
  • Try to choose fruits with a similar texture but different colors.
  • Not sure which fruits go best with each other? Do not worry! Take several types of fruits and you will get great taste. As a general guideline, berries go well with anything, strawberries and kiwis tend to be paired, and tangerines add flavor to any food.
  • To prevent the fruits in the salad from darkening, you can add peeled and chopped oranges to it instead of lemon.

Warnings

  • Cut fruit with care - careless handling of the knife can cause serious injury. In fact, sharp knives are safer. The sharper the knife, the less likely it will slip off and cut yourself!
  • Wash the fruit thoroughly before preparing the salad to remove any chemical residues from it.
  • Find out if your guests have food allergies.
