4. 4 When ready, fully squeeze the clutch with your hand. Then, use your foot on the left side of the motorcycle to shift into first gear.
5. 5 Then slowly add gas and release the clutch at the same time, also slowly. If you need to change gear, then you have to decide for yourself whether you will use the clutch or not. If you do not use the clutch, you will very quickly erase the gear teeth.
6. 6 To engage in neutral on a muffled motorcycle, depending on the model of the motorcycle, you must lower the gear to first and then lightly engage neutral. If it rolls forward without stopping, then this means that you did everything correctly and that the gear is in neutral. On motorcycles with three gears, the lowest gear will be in neutral. To be sure, press the shift lever five or six times.

Tips

• When you feel the bike start to move, release the clutch slowly and add throttle just as slowly.
• When driving through woods or rough terrain, let the clutch slip. This way, you engage the clutch, gaining more revs when driving forward over rough terrain. This can help when climbing hills if you are driving very slowly and shut off your engine.
• You can also change gears without using the clutch. However, sometimes, when shifting the gear from second to first, neutral gear can be engaged. Therefore, be careful.
• At first, you need to release the clutch very slowly, about half a centimeter per second.

• When driving on the highway, it is necessary to select the gears very carefully.

• Do not mix regular engine oil with synthetic!
