Tucked-up jeans are perfect for a retro and ultra-modern look. They can transform a pair of casual jeans into trendy ankle-length jeans that accentuate heels, ballerinas, sandals, and trainers. Try several ways to roll up your jeans depending on your outfit.

Steps

Method 1 of 4: Rolling up tight jeans

  1. 1 Choose tight jeans. They can be skinny or straight jeans, ankle length.
  2. 2 Look for hemmed jeans. When you bend your leg, you should see a neatly sewn edge. This is a sign that jeans are more expensive than the average jeans in stores.
  3. 3 Fold in the bottom edge of the jeans on your right leg an inch or two. Stop when the bottom of the fold is just above the ankle. Use a ruler if you're not sure which length is best.
  4. 4 Fold the jeans evenly around the entire perimeter of your leg. Make sure the folded edge is even with the inside seam.
  5. 5 Pinch this edge of the jeans between your thumb and forefinger. The folded hem should stay in place when you put on your jeans.
  6. 6 Repeat this process with your left leg.

Method 2 of 4: Double Fold

  1. 1 Fold the bottom of the jeans on one leg by 1.6-2.5 cm. This lapel can be thin or thick, depending on your preference. Choose a slim cuff for tight jeans and a thick cuff for loose-fitting jeans.
    • The double lapel on the men's boxy jeans accentuates the retro look of James Dean.
  2. 2 Fold the lapel back again so that the bottom of the lapel lines up with the fold.
  3. 3 Fold over the cuff again using the same measurements. If you made the first lapel by 1.5 cm, then the second should be slightly larger.
  4. 4 Drag your fingers along the bottom of the new fold. Run your fingers along the top of the fold.
    • Women can wear wedge or stiletto heels under such jeans.
    • Men can wear patterned socks and shoe or desert shoes.

Method 3 of 4: Inward Fold

  1. 1 Take a pair of jeans that you want to tuck. This method works well with loose jeans, flared jeans, and straight jeans.
  2. 2 Put on your jeans. Fold the jeans inward instead of curling outward. Line up the fold on all sides.
  3. 3 Run your thumb and forefinger along the bottom of the fold. Make sure the bottom of the jeans is lined up with the outside of the fold and no wrinkles are visible.
  4. 4 Check the length of the jeans by looking in the mirror. Adjust to the desired length.
  5. 5 Gently secure the fold with hairpins or pins through the inside of the seam for added support.

Method 4 of 4: Volume Fold

  1. 1 Choose skinny or cropped jeans. Due to their narrowness, the fold will hold well.
  2. 2 Fold the bottom edge of the jeans 1.5-2 cm. Don't bend it.
  3. 3 Wrap it a second time. Make sure the fold is the same width on both sides. Keep the lapel straight, but do not bend it.
  4. 4 Wear flat shoes or sandals under these jeans.

Tips

  • Most rolled up jeans look better without socks. The exposed skin below the fold will draw attention to your shoes and jeans.
  • For a "bike lapel" choose skinny jeans. Fold the leg of the jeans on your right leg 5-7 cm. Then fold it back. Therefore, you should rise to mid-calf to prevent friction when cycling or falling. Leave the pant leg on your left leg intact.
