Or the owner doesn't care about the car. And you? One has only to make a little effort, taking care of your car, and it will look fresh and new, well, just from the salon! Method 1 of 3: Step One: Prepare for Polishing

1. 1 Wash your car. Don't forget to use shampoo or soap, a sponge or brush, and plenty of water (warm water will do the job better). Do not cheat, as the wax will lie better and faster on a dry and clean surface. Dry the machine well after washing.
2. 2 Remove bitumen and insects from the surface.
   • It would also be nice to degrease the surface.
3. 3 Do not polish in too hot or too cold weather. In the heat, the wax dries instantly, and in the cold it is difficult to apply it to the surface of the car.
4. 4 Work in a garage or other space. Considering the previous advice, try to avoid direct sunlight or wind, and just the room temperature will be suitable.

Method 2 of 3: Step Two: Polishing

1. 1 Choice of pasta. A palm wax paste is the best, if expensive, option. Polishes are usually divided into 2 types:
   • The first type of pastes only forms a protective layer on the car. This is suitable for cars not older than 3 years old, with a "fresh" finish.
   • The second type also includes an abrasive component, which removes a small layer of paintwork. this option is suitable for old cars with weathered paint. In general, this method is not recommended to be applied more than 3 times in the life of a car.
2. 2 Apply a small amount of the paste to the sponge. The composition and volume of pastes may vary, so read the instructions carefully first.
   • In any case, it is better to apply less wax than necessary, so that later you do not have to suffer with the removal of excess. And a thin layer of wax will better fit on the surface of the car.
   • If the kit that you purchased did not have a special sponge, you can take a regular one. Only then should it be thrown into the trash, for dishes and other household chores, it will no longer fit.
3. 3 Divide the car into sections. Work on each area in turn, applying the paste in gentle circular motions with medium force.
4. 4 Use a polishing machine. If possible, use the technique - both faster and better, and your hands will get tired less.
5. 5 Let the wax dry. After processing, you need to wait until the wax is fixed on the surface. The time should be indicated on the paste package.
   • You can check the readiness with your finger - if you swipe it and the finger stays dry and clean - you're done!
6. 6 Use a soft cloth. Wipe the machine in a circular motion. When the fabric stops slipping, change the cloth.
7. 7 Keep polishing until the car sparkles!

Method 3 of 3: Pay attention!

1. 1 When washing your car, use a shampoo designed for polishing. You can also wrinkle it with dish detergent, but then the result is unlikely to last long.
2. 2 For maximum effect, polish several times. Some professionals polish 2 times. For the first, synthetic wax is used, and for the finishing layer, paste with palm wax is used.
3. 3 Stripes appearing? Wipe with a solution of denatured alcohol and distilled water.
4. 4 The life of the polish is indicated approximately. Expect the result to last longer or less.
   • Manufacturers often specify long terms for benefits.
   • The term also often depends on the specific machine and paint (surface), as well as the quality of the application.
5. 5 If your car has a matte body, never polish it!

Tips

• Several thin coats of wax will provide more shine and protection than one thick coat.

Warnings

• Follow the instructions. In particular, you need to monitor the time until the wax sets after application. Don't wait too long or it will dry out completely.
