This wikiHow teaches you how to delete blank lines in Google Sheets in three ways. You can delete line by line with filters, or delete entire lines and blank cells with add-ons.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Delete line by line
Access https://sheets.google.com on a web browser. If you're signed into Google, a list of Google Sheets documents associated with your account will appear.
- If you're not logged into Google, sign in to continue.
Click Google Sheets Document.
Right click on the line number. The rows are numbered in the left gray column.
Click Delete Row (Delete line). advertisement
Method 2 of 3: Use filters
Access https://sheets.google.com on a web browser. If you're signed into Google, a list of Google Sheets documents associated with your account will appear.
Click Google Sheets Document.
Click and drag to select all data.
Click the card Data (Data) in the top menu bar.
Click Filter (Filter).
Click the green 3-line triangle icon in the upper left box.
Click Sort A → Z (Sorted in alphabetical order). All empty cells will be moved to the bottom. advertisement
Method 3 of 3: Use add-ons
Access https://sheets.google.com on a web browser. If you're signed into Google, a list of Google Sheets documents associated with your account will appear.
Click Google Sheets document.
Click the card Add-ons (Add-ons) in the top menu bar.
Click Get Add-ons (Download add-ons).
Import Remove Blank Rows search bar, then press ↵ Enter
Click + Free (+ Free). This button is on the other side of the line called "Remove Blank Rows (and More)". Utility with an eraser image.
Click on your Google account. If you have more than one account, Google will ask which account you'd like to add the add-on to.
Click Allow (Allow).
Click the card Add-ons in the top menu bar again.
Choose Remove Blank Rows (and More) (Delete blank lines, etc.).
Click Delete Blank Rows / Columns (Delete blank rows / columns). The add-on's options will open in the right column.
Click on a blank gray cell in the upper left of the worksheet. The entire workbook will be selected.
- You can also press Ctrl+A to select all.
Click Delete (Erase). The task is in the column of add-on options "Remove Blank Rows (and More)". advertisement
