DWG files contain sketches, photographs, maps, and geometric data. They were originally created by Autodesk in 1982 with the launch of AutoCAD design and drafting software. DWG files can be opened directly in DWG or Microsoft Visio, as well as in Autodesk products: A369 Viewer and AutoCAD 360.

Steps

Method 1 of 5: Using BRViewer2017

1. 1 Download and install BRViewer2017 from this link: https://jaeholee.wixsite.com/brcad/brviewer-1
2. 2 Launch BRViewer2017 and click on the program icon.
3. 3 Select the "Open" menu.
4. 4 Select the dwg file.
5. 5 Ready.

Method 2 of 5: Using Microsoft Visio

1. 1 Launch Microsoft Visio and click on the File menu.
2. 2 Select "Open".
3. 3 From the Save as type menu, choose AutoCAD Drawing ( *. Dwg; *. Dxf).
4. 4 Find the DWG file you want to open and then click on the "Open" button. Visio opens and displays the DWG file.

Method 3 of 5: Using A360 Viewer

1. 1 Open the A360 Viewer page on the AutoDesk website by following this link: https://a360.autodesk.com/viewer. This free program from AutoDesk allows you to view DWG files without installing a separate program or browser add-on.
2. 2 Click on "Start Viewing".
3. 3 Drag the DWG file into the window on the A360 Viewer page. The online tool will automatically open and display the DWG file.
   • You can also click Upload Files or select the option to upload a DWG file from Dropbox, Box, and Google Drive.

Method 4 of 5: Using AutoCAD 360

1. 1 Open the AutoCAD 360 download page on the AutoDesk website by following this link: https://www.autodesk.ru/products/autocad/overview. AutoCAD 360 is a free app that lets you open and view DWG files on iOS, Android, and Windows devices.
2. 2 Click the Download Free Trial button to download AutoCAD 360 to your computer or mobile device.
3. 3 Download and install AutoCAD 360 on your device like any other application. IOS users are encouraged to download AutoCAD 360 from the App Store or iTunes, while Android users need to download the app from the Google Play Store.
4. 4 Once the installation is complete, launch AutoCAD 360 on your device.
5. 5 Select the DWG file you want to open. AutoCAD 360 will automatically open and display the DWG file in its viewer.
   • If the DWG file is stored in Dropbox, Box, or Egnyte, click the sidebar, choose Connect under the Actions menu, sign in to your account, and then select the DWG file you want to open. Enter https://dav.box.com/dav as the server address for Box accounts, and http://mycompany.egnyte.com/webdav for Egnyte accounts.

Method 5 of 5: Troubleshooting

1. 1 If you get a "Drawing file is not valid" error, try opening the DWG file in a newer version of AutoCAD. This error occurs when trying to open a new DWG file in an older version of AutoCAD. For example, if you are trying to open a DWG file that was created in AutoCAD 2015 in AutoCAD 2012, try opening it in AutoCAD 2015.
2. 2 If you are unable to open the DWG file, quit third-party applications running in AutoCAD. Third-party applications integrated into AutoCAD may interfere with the opening of DWG files.
3. 3 If the file does not open, make sure the DWG file was originally created in AutoCAD. If the file was created outside of the AutoCAD environment or Autodesk products, it may have been corrupted.
