People love alumni reunions because they are an occasion to celebrate the successes of your classmates in life. Here are a few things to help you plan a meeting that can be a lifelong memory.
Steps
1 Assemble a meeting committee. Choose people who will do their best to arrange the meeting. Designate one person to alert guests. Choose another person to control your finances.
2 Never underestimate the work of those organizing the meeting. Combine work with other people on the reunification committee. Typically, there are many necessary details that must be met.
3 Start scheduling your appointment a year in advance of the event date. Some locations where you would like to hold a meeting may require a one-year booking. It will also take time because many of your classmates may live very far away and will need to set aside time to attend the alumni meeting.
4 Meet with committee members at least once a month in person or hold conference calls to discuss meeting details. During the meetings, share the responsibilities that you have planned.
5 Create a budget. Decide how much money you will charge to cover the costs of the various items.
6 Plan a weekend alumni meeting, especially Friday or Saturday, in late summer or early fall.
7 Plan of activities that will be included in your meeting. It is a good idea to write a few speeches, to honor the memory of classmates who have passed away. But set aside most of the time for free communication. Another interesting idea is to show a slide show in one of the corners of the hall. If you want to have a dance in a meeting, play the music appropriate for your generation.
8 Make sure all guests are registered on the day of the meeting.
Tips
- Your meeting will be successful if the committee is well organized.
- Invite someone who will be a mystery to everyone who came to the meeting, it could be a teacher, or a graduate who has become a celebrity.
Warnings
- Some graduates won't want to come.
