Have you always wanted to create your own website, but you just don't know how? With all the cheap domains out there on the internet, it is easier than ever to publish your own website. Take the following steps to put your own website online.

To step

1. The base. Your website needs two things:
   • A unique domain name. Each domain name is registered with its own DNS (Domain Name Server), which links the domain name to a unique Internet Protocol (IP) address.
   • Space. Every website needs space on the internet. This is provided by a web server, many of which are maintained by private companies.
2. Find out if your chosen name is available. Many websites (such as domainsbot) keep track of which domains are freely available. You can also try typing the domain of your choice in the address bar of your browser.
3. Find a website that can show you similar domain names that are available. Searching for an already occupied domain will show several similar domains that are still free. For example, if you search for the domain name “domainhostingcompany.com”, you will see that “domainhostingcompany.co” is still available, but “domainhostingcompany.com” is no longer.
4. Register your domain. Find a registrar for your domain name and sign up for it. (To find one, search under "domain name registrar"). You will likely have to pay a start-up fee, in addition to an annual fee, to ensure that the domain remains in your name. The registrar will then give you access to a control panel for your website.
5. Manage your website. Via the control panel you can see how much disk space you have and what your monthly bandwidth is. You can also upload and download content for your website, in addition to updating files and folders on the website via the server's FTP address.
6. Add themes. There are several programs that can apply themes (or designs) to your website.
