1. 1 Buy glasses. Horn-rimmed glasses have become such a symbol of nerds that people often refer to these glasses as nerd glasses. Find one in black or brown and add some duct tape around the nasal septum to make it appear broken.
   • If you can't find horn-rimmed glasses, then any pair of reading glasses will do. Make sure they are the correct diopter for you, or that they are not dioptric if you have good eyesight.
2. 2 Wear specially printed clothing. Checkered, for example, at the sight of checkered immediately come to mind at the thought of nerds. Try to find a sweater, vest, skirt, or dress.
   • You can also try striped ornaments and polka dots. Try mixing them together. The more they don't agree with each other, the better!
3. 3 Wear a collared shirt. The shirt should be fully buttoned and best tucked into a pair of trousers or a skirt. Wear a shirt under a vest or sweater to show the collar and sleeves.
   • Try a plain white shirt, or a plaid shirt, or a T-shirt with a collar of any color.
4. 4 Find a pair of pants. It is best that they have a high waist, and that they are short for you so that you can see your socks from under them. The color can be the simplest: black, gray or brown.
5. 5 Find the right shoes. Try on shoes in black or brown. You can also wear sneakers. Find sneakers in a bright color, such as red, blue, green, or purple.
6. 6 Think about accessories. Once you've found the basic outfit, then play around with adding accessories.
   • Carry books, pencils, pens and / or a backpack with you. If your shirt has a breast pocket, place your pens in it.
   • Wear suspenders. Try to find suspenders in an unusual color: red, purple, bright green or rainbow.
   • Wear either a regular tie or a bow tie with your shirt. Again, either go for regular colors or vibrant colors and unusual materials to make you look like a nerd from the 90s.
   • Pick up your socks. If you're wearing a dress, try white knee high socks or high socks; with trousers and shorts, you can try white socks. Whatever socks are, pull them as high as possible so you can see them!
