Method 1 of 2: Updating from a device

1. 1 Open your iPhone and select "Settings.’
2. 2 Tap on the Wi-Fi option. Connect to your local Wi-Fi connection, and do not disconnect from it during the update process.
3. 3 Click on the "General" option located at the top of the "Settings" menu.
4. 4 Click on the "Update" icon. You will see information about the latest updates and the update process will begin.
   • Wait for the process to finish.
5. 5 Click on “Agree on the terms and conditions of Apple Inc.”
   • It is recommended that you read the terms and conditions before clicking on the "Agree" button.
   • After the update, your device will reboot. After rebooting, follow the instructions and fill in the information, depending on the update.
6. 6 Check the update again. If you want to double-check, then open the update again, and look at the latest software version.

Method 2 of 2: Using iTunes to Update Your iPhone

1. 1 Connect your iPhone to your computer. Use the correct cable.
2. 2 Wait for iTunes to open.
3. 3 Click on the iPhone button as soon as iTunes opens. It's in the top right corner of your screen.
   • You will see general information about your device.
4. 4 Click on the "Update" button. A dialog box appears with information about available updates.
5. 5 Click on download and install to start the update.
   • Agree to the terms and conditions.
6. 6 Disconnect your iPhone. Click on "Eject Device" to disconnect your device from your computer.
   • If you want to double-check the update, just go to the update and look at the installed version of the software.
