Safari is a great web browser that supports Mac OS and Windows. One of the key features of the browser is the ability to fine-tune it, including adjusting the main parameters according to your preferences.

Steps

Method 1 of 2: On the computer

1. 1 Launch Safari by double-clicking its icon.
2. 2 Click on the gear-shaped icon (in the upper right corner of the browser window). In the menu that opens, select "Settings".
3. 3 In the window that opens, go to the "General" tab (at the top of the window).
   • You can now adjust the basic browser settings.
4. 4 Default Browser. In this menu, select the browser that will be launched by default (open the menu and click on the desired browser).
5. 5 "The main search engine". In this menu, select the search engine that will be used by default (process search queries from the address bar).
6. 6 "Safari opens when opened." From this menu, select the page that opens when the browser starts. Here you can choose to open all windows from the last session or open a new window.
7. 7 "Open in new windows." From this menu, you can choose what will open in the new Safari window, such as home page, bookmarks, blank page, and so on.
8. 8 "Open in new tabs." From this menu, you can choose what will open in a new Safari tab, such as home page, bookmarks, blank page, and so on.
9. 9 "Homepage". In this line, enter the URL of the site that you want to use as your home page.
   • By clicking "Current page", you will set the site that is currently open in the browser as the home page.
10. 10 "Delete objects of history". In this menu, select the frequency of deleting the history of visited pages. Options include Every other day, Every other week, and so on. You can also select the "Manual" option.
11. 11 "Save downloaded to folder". In this menu, you can select the folder in which the downloaded files will be saved. By default, this is the Downloads folder.
    • If you want to specify a different folder, select “Other” from the menu. An explorer will open, in which you can find and select the folder you need.
12. 12 "Clear download list". In this menu, you can choose the method and moment of cleaning the list of downloaded files. Options include Manual, When Safari Quits, and After Successful Download.
13. 13 Close the preferences window and your changes will be automatically saved.

Method 2 of 2: On a smartphone

1. 1 Launch Safari on your Android device or iPhone by clicking the app icon on the home screen or in the app list.
2. 2 Click on the "Options" button (the icon in the form of two vertical lines).
   • Then click on "Settings".
3. 3 Location. Allow or disallow the browser to determine your location by moving the slider to the "Yes" or "No" position.
4. 4 "Full screen mode". Allow or disallow the browser to open in full screen by moving the slider to the "Yes" or "No" position.
5. 5 "Download folder". Set the folder where the downloaded files will be saved. By default, this is the Download folder.
   • If you want to specify a different folder, click "Other" in the menu. An explorer will open, in which you can find and select the folder you need.
6. 6 "Homepage". Set the site you want to use as your home page.
   • For example, if you specified www.Google.com, the Google site will open when you launch your browser.
7. 7 "Search system". From this menu, select the default search engine.
8. 8 "Font size". In this menu, choose a font size (out of 5 options).
9. 9 Close browser settings. The changes made will be saved automatically.
