This wikiHow teaches you how to watch live TV on your computer using your network / TV station website, tuner or premium streaming service.

Method 1 of 3: Watch on TV website

1. 

   Open a web browser on your computer.

   Find a TV station or TV network website. Many local stations, as well as some major cable and network channels, often stream the final episodes of their popular show for free on their homepage. Vendors also stream their own shows in select regions. Some of the major networks that stream content in the US include:
   • ABC: http://abc.go.com/watch-live
   • NBC: https://www.nbc.com/video
   • CBS: http://www.cbs.com/watch/
   • FOX: http://www.fox.com/full-episodes

   Find the link to watch TV. Not all television networks or broadcasters have this option. If a site doesn't stream the show, you can check out other sites, such as affiliate websites in other markets. In Vietnam, you can access the websites of major broadcasters such as HTV, VTV, and so on.

Method 2 of 3: By subscription service

1. 

   Access the subscription service page with your web browser.
   • If you use cable or a satellite subscription, you can watch many cable TV networks by logging in to the network's site with subscription information.

   Choose the service and package that best suits your needs.

   Watch live TV. You can watch live TV on your computer using a subscription to Sling TV or the Live TV beta program of Hulu. Currently, YouTube also launches YouTube TV live TV in some cities with the same monthly fee.
   • You don't need to subscribe to cable or satellite TV to watch Sling TV or Hulu, both of which are available on more than 50 channels.
   • Hulu's online TV service is limited to certain devices, including Chromecast and Apple TV (fourth generation).

   Watch recent TV shows.
   • Hulu lets you watch broadcasts from major stations and cable TV networks. In many cases, you can get to see new programs right after they broadcast. Most Hulu shows are commercial time, but you can buy a more premium plan so you won't be interrupted by ads.
   • HBO Now is a standalone HBO subscription service where you can watch new and archived HBO movies, such as "Game of Thrones". The new episode will be released just hours after its original broadcast time. Unlike linked cable TV service, HBO Go, HBO Now do not require subscription to stolen TV or satellite TV.

   Watch all seasons of the movie on TV. Full seasons of many TV series are available on both Hulu and HBO, besides:
   • Netflix releases their shows, such as "House of Cards" and "Orange is the New Black" seasonally rather than by episode. Netflix also hosts full seasons of many TV series from different networks.
   • Amazon Prime offers a large number of movies hosted with their shows, such as "Transparent" and "The Man in the High Castle".

Method 3 of 3: By TV tuner

1. 

   Buy an external TV tuner. TV Tuner allows you to connect an antenna or cable box to your computer, so you can watch and change channels using the control panel on the screen.
   • Computer TV tuners are available at most electronics retail stores or e-commerce sites like Amazon, Lazada, and so on.
   • Many TV tuners also allow you to record TV shows and save them for later viewing, similar to a DVR.

   Connect the tuner to the USB port. Plug the TV tuner directly into the USB port on the computer or the USB extension cable if the ports are too close together, making it difficult to connect with the tuner.Use of a USB hub (USB hub) is limited as the device typically does not provide enough power.
   • You can also insert the TV tuner card into the spare PCI slot in the computer, but this is quite complicated compared to plugging the USB cable of the tuner into the machine. See more on the network for instructions on how to install a PCI card.
   • Both have the same power, but if you use an external USB TV tuner, it's much simpler than installing a TV tuner card.

3. 

   Connect an antenna or cable box. Some tuners usually come with an antenna. Or you can use the coax cable connector to plug cables from the antenna or cable box into the TV.
   • If you want to keep the cable box connected to your TV and computer at the same time, you need to use a coax splitter.

4. 

   Install TV tuning software. You will probably need to install the software that came with the tuner. Please follow the tuner's instructions.
   • Windows Media Center supports TV tuner.

5. 

   Tune in to a channel. Launch the TV tuner software and follow the instructions to search for available channels. If you use an antenna, the channel that you detect will depend on the signal strength and antenna power.
