WikiHow today will show you how to create a shortcut on the desktop (also known as the desktop) of your Windows computer to open a web page directly using Internet Explorer.
Steps

Visit a website. Type the URL or keyword of the website into the search bar at the top of the window. advertisement
Method 1 of 3: Right click on the website
Right click on an empty space on the web page. A menu will pop up.- Below right mouse cursor is empty, no text or image.
Click on the action Create Shortcut (Create Shortcut) is near the middle of the menu.
Click Yes. A shortcut to the website you just visited will be created on your desktop. advertisement
Method 2 of 3: Drag and drop from the search bar
Click the "two tiled" icon. Options are buttons with two overlapping squares in the top right corner of the Explorer window.- When you click this button, the window will minimize and show an area of the Windows desktop.
Click and hold the mouse on the icon next to the URL, located to the left of the search bar.
Drag the icon onto the desktop.
Release the mouse. A shortcut to the web page you just browsed will appear on the desktop. advertisement
Method 3 of 3: Right-click on the Windows desktop
Copy the URL in the address bar of Internet Explorer. Click anywhere in the search bar, click Ctrl + A to highlight the URL, then tap Ctrl + C to copy.
Right-click on the Windows desktop.
Click new (New) is near the middle of the menu.
Click on options Shortcut (Shortcut) near the top of the menu.
Click on the field "Type a location of the item:"(Enter the location of the item).
Press combination Ctrl + V to paste the website URL into the data area.
Click next (Continue) in the lower right corner of the dialog box.
Name the shortcut. Enter the data in the field labeled "Type a name for this shortcut:" (Enter a name for this shortcut).- If you skip this step, the shortcut will be labeled "New Internet Shortcut".
Click finish (Completed). A shortcut to the web page address you just pasted will appear on the desktop. advertisement
