Today's wikiHow teaches you how to view the source code - the programming language behind every website - in most web browsers. Except for the Safari tip, you can't view the web page's source code when using the browser on your mobile device.

Steps

Method 1 of 3: Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Internet Explorer

1. 

   Open your web browser. Viewing the source code on Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer browsers is the same.

   Navigate to a website where you want to see the source code.

   Right click on the page. If you're on a Mac with just one mouse button, you can hold down the key Control and click at the same time. If you're using a laptop with a trackpad, you can press the trackpad with two fingers instead of a right click. A drop-down menu will appear.
   • Do not right-click on a link or image on the page as this will result in another pop-up menu.

   Click View page source good View Source (See page source code). The source code will appear in a new window or just below the current browser window.
   • You will see options View page source when using Chrome and Firefox, optional View Source is for Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer.
   • You can also press Ctrl+U (regular computer) good ⌥ Option+⌘ Command+U (Mac computer) to display the page source code.

Method 2 of 3: Safari

   Open the Safari app with a blue compass shape.

2. 

   Click the menu Safari is located at the top left of the Mac menu bar. A drop-down menu will appear.

   Click the itemPreferences (Custom) is in the middle of the drop-down menu.

   Click the card Advanced in the upper right corner of the Preferences window.

   Check the box "Show Develop menu in menu bar" (Display the Development menu in the menu bar). This option is near the bottom of the Preferences window. You will see a menu Develop appears in the menu bar on the Mac screen.

   Navigate to the website where you want to see the source code.

   Click Develop. This card is on the left side of the card window in the Mac menu bar.

   Click Show Page Source (Display Source Code) is near the bottom of the menu. Safari will immediately display the source code of the page.
   • You can also press ⌥ Option+⌘ Command+U to display the page source code.

Method 3 of 3: On Wikis

1. Go to the page where you want to view the wiki source code.
2. Click the "View source" or "Edit" tab.
3. Scroll through the source code and select / copy the snippet you want to copy to your website. advertisement

• Although you can't view the source code on regular mobile browsers, you can still save Safari bookmarks on your iPhone or iPad and view the Safari source code on your mobile device.
