LinkedIn accounts are useful tools for establishing relationships, finding a job, and introducing yourself in a professional setting. However, if you need to delete your LinkedIn account for some reason, you can follow the steps in this article quickly and without any hiccups.

Steps

Part 1 of 2: Close account

1. 

   Sign in to the LinkedIn account you want to close. Click on the name in the upper right corner. Keep in mind, however, that once you've deleted your LinkedIn account, you won't be able to:
   • Access to professional links or personal information on the site
   • Presenting personal information on LinkedIn
   • In addition, LinkedIn information and personal pages only disappear completely from search engines like Google after a few days.

   Click the "Privacy & Settings" link on the drop-down menu. Hover your cursor over your avatar in the top right of your browser and click "Privacy & Settings".

Part 2 of 2: Perform the desired action without deleting the account

1. 

   Enter matching LinkedIn accounts. If you have multiple LinkedIn accounts linked to the same email address and want to remove one of them, you can contact LinkedIn and ask them to merge the accounts. You cannot do this step manually.
   • LinkedIn allows you to switch connections, but right now referrals, work experience, pending invitations, or team membership are not allowed.

   Cancellation of premium account. If you are a premium member but do not want to pay fees to enjoy benefits, you can delete the premium membership information without deleting the entire account.

   Hide connections on LinkedIn. If "professional" communications are to your detriment, you can hide them from your profile without messing with things. If you want to remove the connection, you can also do this.

• Archived versions may still appear in search engines. You need to contact the search engine directly to cancel the archived version.
