Do you need to remove the recent search keyword that pops up every time you click the Safari URL bar? We can quickly remove all recent search terms, no matter which version of Safari we are using. With an iOS device, you can clear all recent searches by clearing all of your browsing history.
Note: Clearing history search is different from deleting history browsing. Search history is all the keywords that you have entered in the search bar, while browsing history is a list of all the websites you have visited. To delete browsing history, click here.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: On the Mac
Open Safari. You can delete recent search keywords in Safari.
Click the URL bar. If you were using old Safari with its own search bar, click the Search bar.
Remove the URL currently displayed in the bar. This will help bring up the recently searched keywords.
Click the "Clear Recent Searches" option at the bottom of the list.- This process only deletes keywords that have been searched recently. You can view more online if you need to delete all your browsing history.
Delete certain items. If you only want to delete a specific search history entry, you can proceed in the Bookmarks view.
- Click the Bookmarks button, then click ⌥ Opt+⌘ Cmd+2.
- Find the item you want to delete.
- Select the item and press the key Del, or right-click the content and select "Delete".
Method 2 of 2: On iOS
Open the Settings app. The only way to clear Safari search history on an iOS device is to delete all browsing history.
Click on "Safari". The app is below the "Maps" option.
Scroll down and click on "Clear History and Website Data". You will be asked to confirm by clicking "Clear".
- This will clear your browsing history, cache, and recent search history.
