• Whatever you do, enjoy the decoration. If you have children in your family, let them help you. Christmas is a time for friends and family.
• Don't buy all the decorations at once. If you are just starting to decorate, buy something cheap. After the holiday season, many stores will offer discounts on these products. Every year, purchase additional decorations during that time period until you find yourself having enough. As you get older, you will also have decorations passed down from family members or brought in by your children. If you start with too many decorations, over time you will have redundancy and no room to hold it all.
• Every year, check out all your decorations. Discard damaged items or those you no longer want to keep. By doing so, you will free up space and make room for a few new items, as well as create a space for yourself to enjoy the decorations you love.
• Pick up a few outdoor decorations to use for year after year. For example, a star that sparkles on your roof, a string of ice lights running down the roof or a few reindeer can light up.
