This wikiHow teaches you how to find the product key for your Microsoft Office version.

Steps

Method 1 of 2: Microsoft Office 365, 2016, 2013, and 2011

  1. Look in personal emails and documents. Newer versions of Office do not store the full 25 characters of the product key in a computer-readable format. The best way to view the product key is to find the electronic receipt (if purchased online) or the product packaging (if you bought it from the store).
    • If the computer came with a registered version of Office, the code may be printed on a hologram sticker somewhere on the device.
    • If you have the original disc or packaging, look for the sticker or tag that contains the code.
    • If you purchased the software from the Microsoft Store, look for the receipt in the email. Be sure to have a product key on the receipt.

  2. Check with online store. If you can't find your receipt, you can still find the code by logging into your store account.
    • If you purchased software from the Microsoft Store, follow these steps:
      • Sign in to your account at https://www.microsoftstore.com.
      • Click Order History (Transaction history).
      • Click an order.
      • Click Install Office (Install Office).

      • Log into https://microsofthup.com.
      • Click Order History.
      • Enter the email address that you use to buy Office. You will receive an email containing the link.
      • Click the link in the email.
      • Click on the order number to display the key.

  3. Check your Microsoft Office account. If you installed Office before and used a product key, you'll need to find the key in your account info:
    • Access https://stores.office.com/myaccount.
    • Sign in to your account.
