This article will guide you on how to prevent apps from running on your Android phone or tablet.

Method 1 of 3: Use Developer Options

1.

   • If you are using Marshmallow or higher, you may have apps that run automatically due to lack of battery optimization. This method optimizes applications to disable the background autostart process

   Scroll down and tap The battery (Battery). It will be in the "Device" section.

   Click ⁝. A menu will be displayed.

   Press Battery optimization (Battery Optimization). If any of the apps appear on this list, they can run in the background on their own and waste your battery power.
   • If you don't see the app you're looking for, try a different method.

   Tap the background application that you want to stop. A pop-up menu will appear.

Method 3 of 3: using Startup Manager (for rooted devices - take control of the system)

1. 

   Search startup manager free in the Play Store. This is the English version. The app is free and allows you to optimize startup apps when you boot a rooted Android device.

2. 

   Press Startup Manager (Free). It has a black icon with a blue clock inside.

3. 

   Press Install. The app will install on your phone or tablet.

4. 

   Open Startup Manager and click Allow. This will provide admin level access. You should now see a list of all applications that run in the background.

5. 

   Click the green button next to the app you want to disable. The button will be greyed out, meaning the app will no longer run in the background on its own. advertisement
