Add 1/2 cup (120 ml) of shaving cream to the glue bowl.{

Add 1/2 cup (120 ml) of shower gel or foaming soap (optional). Add a shower gel or foaming soap to make the slime more supple, but it's fine if not.

Stir until the mixture no longer lumps. The texture will be thick and smooth, similar to marshmallow ice cream.

Add more than 1 tablespoon (15 ml) of cornstarch. Cornstarch helps to thicken the slime and preserve its shape.

• The cornstarch is not strictly necessary in this recipe, but if not used, the slime will not be thick enough to maintain its shape.

Stir well, but be careful. (Because the cornstarch is easy to splash out).

Add a body lotion to your slime. To make the slime even longer, press the hand lotion bottle twice to get the body lotion into the slime.

• You can skip this step if you don't want to add it at that point - as you can always add it later.

Add food coloring. Too much food coloring can stain your hands or other surfaces, so if you use a rich color, add only 2 drops. Stir until no white streaks remain.

Add 3 teaspoons of the borax solution to the slime. Stir, then add 1-3 tablespoons of the borax solution each time, until the slime is as firm as you want it to be.

• You may not be able to use up the borax solution. Be careful not to add too much so that the slime won't harden and break. The original recipe uses only 6-9 teaspoons (44 ml) of the borax solution.

Stuffed slime. Once the slime has formed a mass and is easily removed from the bowl, place it on a flat surface and stuff it by hand evenly.

• If the slime is still too sticky, add about 1 teaspoon of the borax solution and stuff it carefully.

Apply body lotion on the slime to increase elasticity. If the slime is smooth but not stretchy, add a little body lotion to the surface of the slime, apply evenly and knead again. Repeat until the slime is as stretchy as you want.

• If you use the body product in a spray bottle, you will need 16 sprays to get the perfect stretch so don't save!

• If glitter is added, the slime will become stiff. In case you want to use, reduce the amount of borax.
• The larger the container, the more space will be left to help the slime maintain its texture.
• Acrylic paint can be substituted for food coloring.
• You can also use clear glue, but it doesn't matter. The slime mixture will no longer be transparent after adding shaving cream, so it's best to use regular white glue.
• If you don't have borax powder, try making slime with liquid starch, detergent, or contact lens soaking solution.
• Replace cornstarch with baby powder if you don't have enough cornstarch.
• The basic pliable smooth slime is made from glue, shaving cream and a solution of borax but it won't hold on to its shape and has an unpleasant odor.
• What if I run out of shaving cream? Use a foaming soap. It also works.
