In this article, wikiHow will show you how to unzip and open a GZ folder, a type of compressed folder (ZIP). You can do this using a variety of programs on Windows, Mac, iPhone and Android platforms.

Steps

Method 1 of 4: On Windows

1. 

   (Starting). Click the Windows logo in the lower left corner of the screen. The Start menu will appear.

   (Explore file). Click the folder-shaped icon in the lower left corner of the Start menu.

6. Type App Store into the search bar.
7. Type izip and press Search
8. Click GET
9. Enter Apple ID and password or Touch ID.

    . The location depends on the app that hosts the GZ folder, but you can find it in a corner of the screen. Click to open the pop-up menu at the bottom of the screen.

14. Click AndroZip FREE File Manager
15. Click INSTALL (Setting)
16. Click ACCEPT (Accept)

    Press the button DOWNLOADS (Download). This option is on the left side of the screen. This opens a list of recently downloaded files, including the GZ folder.

    Tap on the GZ folder. This will select a folder, and a pop-up will appear.

    Click Extract file here (Extract the file here). This is the first option in the pop-up window. This is the action of extracting the GZ folder immediately into the entry DOWNLOADS (Download vf) of AndroZip application. You can choose any of the extracted files to open and view the contents.
    • You can click Extract to ... (Extract now) to choose another unzip folder.

• GZ folders have the same functions as ZIP folders.

Warning

• Many applications support decompressing ZIP folders, but not GZ folders.
