Simlocking your iPhone ensures that you can use SIM cards from other providers in your iPhone, especially useful if you go abroad and want to use local SIM cards. With the steps in this article you can easily check whether your iPhone is simlock-free.
To step
Method 1 of 2: Test with a different SIM card
- Check this by removing your SIM card. Remove the SIM card and shut down the iPhone. If you have restarted the iPhone, it should say "No SIM card". Now tap on "Settings" again.
- If you still see the options "Mobile data" and "Provider", the iPhone is simlock free.
Tips
- Call your provider. They can often make a phone simlock free for you.
Warnings
- The only way to make sure that your iPhone is SIM-free is to test with a SIM card from another provider. Other methods may work, but offer no guarantees.
