Since the Chromebook has a different keyboard layout than Windows and Mac computers, users will have to resort to other methods to cut and paste content. For example, Mac users will have trouble cutting and pasting on the Chromebook because they don't have a Command button. But Chromebook users can of course cut and paste, and they can do that with keyboard shortcuts or commands in Google Chrome.

To step

Method 1 of 3: Using keyboard shortcuts

  1. Use the touchpad to select the text or content you want to copy.
  2. Press Control + C to copy the content.
  3. Navigate to the document where you want to paste the content.
  4. Place the cursor where you want to paste the content.
  5. Press Control + V to paste the content.

Method 2 of 3: Using the Context menu

  1. Select the text you want to copy. Place your cursor on the text you want to copy. Click on the beginning or end of the piece of text to select it. Click on the touchpad and drag the cursor to the other side of the text. That way you will select the text you want to copy.
  2. Copy the text. You will have to right click on the selected text to bring up the context menu. To right-click on the Chromebook, you can tap the touchpad twice, or hold down the Alt button and then click the touchpad (Alt + click).
    • If you have linked a mouse to the Chromebook, just right click on the text and then choose "Copy".
    • When the context menu has appeared, choose "Copy" to copy the selected text.
  3. Choose where you want to paste the text. Go to where you want to copy the text. Click on the area to select it.
  4. Paste the text. Repeat what you did in Step 2, but instead of choosing "Copy", this time choose "Paste". Right-click on the touchpad by tapping it twice, or by pressing Alt on your keyboard and clicking the touchpad (Alt + click).
    • You can also bring up the context menu by clicking the right mouse button on your paired mouse.
    • Select "Paste" from the menu to paste the text to the area you selected.

Method 3 of 3: Using menu commands

  1. Use the touchpad to select the text or content you want to copy in the Chrome browser.
  2. Click the menu in the top right corner of the Chrome session.
  3. Click "Copy" to the right of the Edit field.
  4. Navigate to the document where you want to copy the content.
  5. Place the cursor where you want to paste the content.
  6. Click the Chrome Menu button again.
  7. Select "Paste" from the Edit field.

Tips
