This article will teach you how to record voice on Android device. Please note this is not about recording a phone call.

To step

  1. Download Easy Voice Recorder. This voice recording app is free to download from the Google Play Store:
    • Open the Open Easy Voice Recorder. Tap on To open in the Play Store when the app has finished installing, or tap the app icon in the form of a blue microphone.
    • Tap on I get it!in the notification. This will open a window where you can control the permissions of apps on your Android.
    • Give Easy Voice Recorder access to your Android. Tap on Permit for both "Record audio" and "Allow access to files" in the notifications. This allows Easy Voice Recorder to use your Android's microphone and save your recordings.
    • Tap the "Record" button. This is an orange and white microphone at the bottom of the screen. Your Android will now start recording via the microphone.
    • Record your voice however you want. Make sure to speak into the microphone about 12 inches away for the clearest sound.
      • If your Android has a case that covers or mutes the microphone, it's best to take it off.
    • Pause and resume recording if necessary. You can easily pause the recording by tapping the record button at the bottom of the screen. With another tap on the same button you can resume recording.
      • This is useful if you need to organize your notes, for example.
    • Tap on Name your recording. If you want, you can change the name of your recording as follows:
      • Tap on to the right of the image.
      • Tap on Renaming in the drop-down menu.
      • Use your Android keyboard to enter a new name (eg "Psychology Notes 2019-01-23") in the popup window.
      • Tap on Renaming at the bottom of the popup window.
    • Share your recording. If you want to send or share your recording on social media, you can use the sharing function of the app. Keep in mind that the app you want to share the recording with must be installed on your Android:
      • Tap on to the right of the image.
      • Tap on Share in the drop-down menu.
      • Tap on Display all to see a list of apps you can share your recording with.
      • Select an app.
      • Fill in the required information (eg in Gmail you need to enter a recipient), then tap "Send" or "Share".
    • View a list of your recordings. You can see a list of recordings by tapping the tab Listen at the top of the screen. You can play recordings by tapping on a name.

Tips

  • Your Android phone will likely have a built-in voice recording app (Samsung has the Samsung Voice Recorder app, for example), but most Android tablets don't have such an app.
  • You can also share your voice recording to Google Drive as a backup.

Warnings

  • Recording someone without their knowledge or approval is illegal in most places.
