Folding fitted sheets neatly instead of stuffing them in the closet is a handy way to keep your bedding tidy and keep as much space in your closet as possible. Whether you're a petite or someone who likes to save space, you can benefit a lot from effectively folding a fitted sheet. It is a simple operation, and by following the steps below you will soon fold your fitted sheets neatly in an instant!

To step

  1. Hold the sheet lengthwise in your hands. Make sure the right side is facing your body and that you are holding one corner of the sheet in each hand.
  2. Put the angle you have in you right hand under the angle that you have in you left hand have.
  3. Stop the left corner on the right corner so that you now hold both corners in your left hand.
  4. Slide your right hand down to the next dangling corner.
  5. Lift this section of the sheet and tuck it under the first two corners, as shown here.
  6. All but one corner are now on top of each other.
  7. Slide your right hand back down to the last corner of the sheet. Take this piece and put it with the rest.
  8. Straighten the remaining edges of the sheet. These are under the stacked corners and this is the only part of the sheet that is not yet folded.
  9. Place the sheet on a table or other flat surface.
  10. Fold the sheet in thirds or quarters, keeping the corners together.
  11. Fold the now narrow sheet in thirds or quarters again.
  12. Fold the outer part over the rest so that the fitted sheet stays properly folded. There you have it, your own folded fitted sheet, ready to neatly put in the closet.
  13. Ready.

Tips

  • To make it easier, you can also put all the matching sheets in a matching pillowcase. The closet stays tidier and the things stay together.
  • If you buy two or three matching sets right away, you can exchange covers, pillowcases and fitted sheets. It's hard to find the same pattern at different times, so keep an eye out and buy them at the same time.
  • Apply a color code in your linen closet; blue sheets are for example for the baby cot, yellow sheets for single beds and white sheets for double mattresses.
