Making icing can be more difficult than you think. If you're in an emergency because the icing you made is too thin, you've come to the right place. Read on to learn some tricks for thickening your icing to a spreadable consistency.

Part 1 of 3: Thicken icing by adding ingredients
Add the ingredients a little at a time. One of the main reasons consistency fails is because people add too much of a particular ingredient.
- Add both the liquids and the dry ingredients in small amounts at a time. If the icing is still too thick, add just a little bit of moisture, because if you do too much you will get too thin a icing.
