This article shows you how to import sound samples, such as new instruments or effects, into FL Studio. If you don't have any sound samples of your own, you can download them from FL Studio's website.

To step

Part 1 of 2: Importing sound samples

  1. Open FL Studio. The icon is black with an orange carrot.
    • If you don't have samples to import yourself, you can buy them from the FL Studio developers website.
  2. Click on the Options tab. You can find this option in the top left corner of FL Studio.
  3. Click on General Settings. This is at the top of the "Options" drop-down menu.
  4. Click the File tab. This is at the top of the settings window.
  5. Click on an empty folder under the heading "Browse additional search folders". You will find the empty folders on the left of the window. Clicking on it will open a window where you can select your folder of samples.
  6. Click on the folder with sound samples. Depending on the location of your folder, you have to click through a number of folders here to get to the correct folder.
    • For example, if the samples folder is in your Documents folder (Windows), you may need to click "Desktop" first, then click "Documents", and then click the samples folder.
  7. Click OK. This button is at the bottom of the window. The sample folder is now imported. You should now see a location with the same name as your samples folder, in the options column on the left side of FL Studio. Here you can access all your imported samples when creating a song.

Part 2 of 2: Download sound samples from FL Studio

  1. Go to the FL Studio developers website. This is https://www.image-line.com/. This link will take you to the Image Line homepage.
    • If you are not already logged in with your FL Studio account, please log in now by clicking "Login" in the top right corner of the page, then entering your email address and password.
    • If you have not purchased FL Studio from Image Line, you cannot download free samples.
  2. Click the Content tab. This option can be found at the top of the page.
  3. Click on Samples. This is to the right of the heading "Type" at the top of the page.
  4. Find a sample you want to download. If you don't want to pay, you will need to find a sample with the "Free samples" button in the bottom right corner of the box.
    • If you are willing to pay, all samples are available on this page.
  5. Click on Free samples under a sample you want to use. The sample will now be downloaded to your computer. You may need to select a download location first, depending on which browser you are using.
    • You can also click Add to cart to add a paid version of a sample to your shopping cart. When you're ready to pay, click the shopping cart to the left of your name in the top right corner of the screen. Enter the necessary details there, and click on "Checkout".
  6. Wait for your download to finish. When the download is complete, you can import the file into FL Studio.

Tips

  • Download the samples to your desktop for easy retrieval.

Warnings

  • If you have not purchased FL Studio from Image Line, you will have to log in again when you click "Free Samples", even if you previously logged in.
