Want to know how long your battery will last, but can't see it clearly from the small battery icon? You can set your iPhone to display the battery percentage, so you always know exactly how much battery you have left. You can do this on any version of iOS from iOS 5 onwards.

To step

  1. Open Settings. On your home screen (the default location), tap the Settings icon - the gray gear icon - to open Settings.
    • If you don't see the Settings app, pull down the home screen with your finger to bring up the search bar. Type "Settings" and then tap the Settings icon in the search results. If you are using iOS 6, swipe your home screen from left to right until the search screen appears.
  2. Tap "General". You will find this in the third group of options. Tapping on "General" opens the "General" window, here you can adjust all kinds of functions, including the battery display.
  3. Tap "Use". Here you will find the battery usage, but also the available storage for apps, the available storage on iCloud and more.
  4. Turn on "Battery percentage". Scroll down until you see the Battery Usage section. Tap the on / off switch to the right of "Battery Percentage" so it turns "on". Now the battery percentage is displayed next to the battery icon in the top right corner of the screen.
