Do you play Game Boy games on your VisualBoyAdvance emulator and wish you could cheat every now and then? With a few Gameshark codes you can easily reverse the course of the game and emerge victorious. VisualBoyAdvance makes it easy to add your favorite codes to games on your Game Boy Advance.

To step

1. Be careful when using codes. Gameshark codes change the way a game works at the programming level, and are not developed by their creators. This means that the codes often have unexpected side effects, and can even make your saved game unusable. Always be especially careful when using new codes, and make sure you have backed up important savegames.

2. Open VisualBoyAdvance. VisualBoyAdvance is an emulator that allows you to play copies (ROMs) of Game Boy Advance games on your computer. The emulator is free to download and install. If you haven't installed it yet, check out wikiHow for articles on installing it.
3. Click on the file menu and select "Open". Browse to the ROM you want to open. Open it and minimize VBA for now.
   • You will have to run a game before you can enter the Gameshark cheat codes.
4. Go to the site with the Gameshark codes. There are several sites that have an overview of available codes, and many sites offer a different choice of codes.

5. Navigate to the Game Boy Advance section. Since it is an older system, it is unlikely to be featured prominently on the website. You will have to browse all available systems to find it.
6. Browse to the game you are looking for cheats for. Use the alphabetical category list and search for the game you want.
7. Click on the game. This will open a list of user codes that you can apply. Each listing has been given a rating that other visitors can use to determine whether or not a code works. Scroll until you find a code you want to try.
   • Since all Gameshark codes are posted by users, chances are you will come across codes that don't work for everyone, or have never worked at all. Use the ratings when deciding if the code is worth your time.
8. Pay close attention to the Master Codes. Some games have Master Codes that must be entered first before other codes can be used. Pay attention to these codes so that you can use the other codes.
9. Copy the code you want to use. Select the code you want to use and copy it by clicking Ctrl+C. or by right-clicking on the selection and choosing "Copy".
   • Many codes have multiple lines, so make sure to copy the entire code.
10. Open VBA again. click on Cheats → List .... This will open a window with an overview of the active cheats.
11. Click on .Gameshark ... . A new window will open to enter your code.
12. Paste the code in the Code field. Give the code a description so you know what it does. Click OK when you are done.
    • Master codes must be created separately from the other codes.
    • When a code consists of several lines, a code entry will be created for each line. This means that long codes result in multiple entries in your list of codes.
13. Check if codes are on or off. When you have entered the code and pressed OK, the codes will be added and activated automatically. You can then manually switch all codes on and off, if you only want to use certain codes.
    • Your Master Code should always be activated, if required to use codes in the game.
    • Uncheck the boxes next to the codes you want to disable. Don't forget to uncheck all entries of that code.
14. Restart your game. When you have finished entering and activating the codes, click OK. click on File → Reset to restart your game, which will activate the codes. Once you've restarted the game, your codes should be working and you can start cheating!
15. Disable the codes. If a code does not work properly or you no longer want to use it, you can disable it from the list of Cheats.
    • click on Cheats → List ...
    • Uncheck the boxes next to the codes you want to disable. Do not forget to uncheck every line of the longer codes.
    • Click OK after turning off the codes.
    • Reset your game. The codes you disabled are now no longer effective.

Warnings

• If you activate too many codes, the game will not be able to handle all of the changes and some of the codes will stop working.
