In this article, we will show you how to install and use µTorrent to download movies. Keep in mind that downloading movies that you have not purchased is illegal. Furthermore, you must use BitTorrent websites, where you can come across pornographic material, annoying advertisements and malware that can damage your computer. Be careful what you click on and what you download, otherwise your computer could get infected.

Part 1 of 2: Installing µTorrent

1. Go to the µTorrent website. You do this through http://www.utorrent.com/ typing in the address bar of your browser.
2. click on Get µTorrent or Free Download. That is the button in the middle of the µTorrent page that indicates what your operating system is (eg "For Windows". Clicking the button starts µTorrent downloading).
   • Depending on your operating system, you may have to click on Get µTorrent on a second page first.
   • Depending on your browser, you may have to click on Save, and you may need to specify a download location before the download starts.
3. Install µTorrent. This process differs per computer:
   • Windows: Double-click the µTorrent file, click Yes, then press twice Next, and then on I agree to agree to the terms. Now select some preferences, press twice again Next, Then on Decline and then on Finish to complete the installation.
   • Mac: Drag µTorrent to the folder Programs.
4. Open µTorrent. Double click on the µTorrent icon to open the program. Now you are ready to download movies with µTorrent.

Part 2 of 2: Download

1. Open a web browser of your choice. It is recommended to use a supported web browser such as Edge, Chrome or Firefox. Internet Explorer is too vulnerable for most torrent websites.
2. Search for a torrent website. Torrent websites often disappear after a while, for legal reasons, so you'll have to search for a suitable site every time, rather than relying on one specific website every time.
   • One way to search for a torrent website is to type "torrents" in the Google search bar and then view the results.
3. Type the name of the movie you are looking for in the search bar and press ↵ Enter. The search bar is at the top of most websites, but every website looks slightly different. By searching with a search term you will get a list of matching results.
   • Being specific in your search will give you better results (eg "Blair Witch 2016" instead of "Blair Witch").
4. Look for a healthy torrent. There are a few things to consider when downloading a torrent:
   • Seeders: The number in the "SEED" column on the right side of the page must be greater than (or approximately equal to) the number in the "LEECH" column.
   • Details of the file: Make sure that the file name, category and other details of the search result match the movie you are looking for.
   • Quality (video only): Look for "720p" or higher number in the file name ("1080p" is ideal), because these files are at least DVD quality. All files with lower numbers are of poorer quality.
5. Click on a torrent to view the feedback. Here too you should pay attention to a number of things:
   • Comments: Check out the comments to find out if the torrent is safe, and read what others say about the quality.
   • Rating: Only choose a torrent if there are few negative reviews and many positive ones.
6. Download the torrent. You do this by clicking the download button on the website, usually indicated by the text Download Torrent or something similar (eg. Download [filename]).
   • Many torrent websites have fake ads on their pages that look like download buttons, but clicking on them will redirect you to another website. So check carefully whether the download button matches the design and style of the website you are using. You can also hover your mouse over the link to check if the link's URL is within the same domain as the torrent website you are currently using.
7. Double click on the torrent file to open it in µTorrent or drag and drop the torrent file directly into µTorrent. Dragging the file here will automatically download the movie to your computer.
   • You may have to specify a download location first (e.g. your desktop).
8. Wait for your file to download. When the file is completely downloaded, the word "Seeding" will appear to the right of the torrent name. This indicates that you are now sharing the movie file information with other people who want to download the same movie.
   • BitTorrent is a P2P network system (Peer to Peer) that shares files without the need to have the file in a specific location. Rather than downloading the movie directly from a website or server, you download the file from anyone who is currently sharing (or "seeding") the same movie file.

Tips

• Try to download only from verified users, or from users who get a lot of good feedback and ratings on that particular torrent website. Authenticated users are known for uploading high-quality, secure torrent files.

Warnings

• Downloading torrent files is at your own risk.
• Torrent files and torrent websites are known for spreading viruses and malware. Before using µTorrent and visiting torrent websites, make sure the antivirus software on your computer is up to date and activated. This is even more important if you have a computer with Windows.
