Google+ has a number of unique features that make it a great alternative to Facebook for some people. For others, it's just another Facebook clone, and it takes time to maintain, too. Fortunately, it is very easy to close your account, but there are a number of things to keep in mind before you start. And from a mobile device it might be a little more complicated. In this article, we'll explain how to quickly and securely delete your Google+ account, on your computer or mobile device.

Method 1 of 2: Delete Google+ from your browser

1. Log in to Google+. Log in with your username and password.
2. Go to your account settings. Click your name or profile picture in the top right of the Google+ window. In the menu that now appears, click on "Account".
3. Click Data Tools at the top.
4. Now click on "Remove Google+ Profile and Features".
5. Read carefully the warnings that appear now. If you delete your Google+ profile, you will delete all services and data related to your profile.
6. Complete the process. Check the box indicating that you have read the warnings and click "Remove selected services". This will delete your Google+ profile.

Method 2 of 2: Delete Google+ from your mobile device

1. Start the Google+ app. If you can't find it on your home screen, look for it using the search function. In the search results list, tap Google+.
   • If you do not have the app installed on your mobile device, please use Method 1 to delete your account in the browser on your mobile device.
2. Tap the menu button at the top left of the window. This will open the sidebar.
3. Tap Settings.
4. Tap "Delete Google+ Profile". If you were already logged in, your browser will open automatically and you will be taken to the page where you can complete the process as described in Method 1.
   • If you were not logged in, you must now log in to continue.
5. Sign In. Then type "plus.google.com/downgrade" in the address bar of your browser. Now you will be taken to the page where you can delete your profile as described in Method 1.

Tips

• You will lose all your data if you delete your account, but your email address will remain, so creating a new Google+ profile isn't difficult.

Warnings

• A deleted account cannot be recovered. Make sure you have a good backup of anything you want to keep before deleting your profile.
• Be careful not to accidentally delete your account instead of your Google+ profile, unless that's what you want. If you delete your account, you will also lose your username, which you will not be able to use in the future.
