This wikiHow teaches you how to connect a Samsung Galaxy device to an HDTV. You can do this using an HDMI cable and a cable adapter that plugs into the MicroUSB charging port on your device.

1. Make sure your TV supports HDMI. If you have an HDTV, the TV set must have at least one HDMI plug-in spot on the back or side of the panel.
   • All models of the Samsung Galaxy S line support HDMI.
2. Buy a MicroUSB to HDMI adapter. An HDMI adapter is a block with an HDMI port on one end and a cable that plugs into your phone's charging port on the other. This allows you to connect the HDMI cable from your TV to your phone, even if it is indirect.
   • Samsung sells an official HDMI adapter for their devices, but you can find cheaper, unbranded versions online and in most department store electronics sections.

3. Buy an HDMI cable if necessary. If you don't have an HDMI cable for your HDTV, get one. These are almost always cheaper online than in a store.
   • Expect to spend between $ 10 and $ 20 on an HDMI cable.
   • In general, avoid cables longer than 15 meters. Cables that are longer can cause interruptions or deterioration.
4. Connect your HDMI adapter to your Samsung Galaxy. Connect the HDMI adapter cable to the charging port on the bottom (or side) of your phone or tablet.

   • The process for changing the input varies from TV to TV. Usually you press one Input button on your remote control or on your TV.

• Make sure the HDMI cable connected to your TV is long enough to allow you to use your Samsung Galaxy while seated.
