It may seem like concrete and cement splatters from construction sites and roadwork areas are quite difficult to remove from your car without scratching the paint. However, you can easily remove cement stains yourself without having to spend a lot of money. Start by dissolving the cement with a commercially available agent or a homemade mix. Then wipe off the remaining cement with a rag and car clay, and finish the job by applying a coat of car wax.

Part 1 of 2: Dissolving the cement stains

1. Cover the areas around the spots with masking tape. Apply three or four pieces of masking tape (also called painter's tape) to all sides of the stain to protect your car's paint should you accidentally spray next to the stains. If you spray the solvent on a clean area of ​​your car, you could accidentally damage the paint.
   • Do not use duct tape for this step as it can damage your car's paint.
   • If you have multiple cement stains, tape around all the stains before moving on to the next step.
2. Spray a special cement remover on the stains if you want an easy fix. You can buy a cement dissolver at the hardware store and online. The agent dissolves the lime in the cement, which means that the stains can be safely removed. Cement dissolvers are environmentally friendly alternatives to acids and contain an active ingredient that is naturally present in sugar cane syrup.
3. Spray vinegar on the stains if you want a cheaper solution. Fill an atomizer halfway with pure white vinegar and fill the rest with lukewarm water. Shake the spray bottle for 5 minutes to mix the water and vinegar well. The cement will be dissolved by the acidic vinegar so you can remove it more easily.
   • A bottle of cement dissolver can cost more than $ 20, but you can buy a bottle of vinegar for a few dollars.

   Variant: if there is cement on your windows or windshield, use this vinegar mixture to remove them. Spray the mixture on the stains, wait 15 minutes and wipe off the cement with a damp sponge.

   
   
4. Spray the compound of your choice on the cement stains to dissolve them. Soak all the cement with the store-bought cement dissolver or a homemade vinegar and water mixture. Let the liquid sit for a minute and then spray the stains again to loosen the cement even better.
   • Don't be afraid to spray a lot of liquid on the cement.

Part 2 of 2: Wipe the cement stains off your car

1. Scrape off the cement with a kitchen spatula that you wrapped a cloth around it. Use a plastic or wooden spatula instead of a metal one. Gently push and scrape the cement from below to remove it from your car. Stick the spatula under the cement stains and wiggle it back and forth until the cement loosens and falls off the car.
   • It is important to cover the spatula with a cloth as it can damage the paint if you rub it on the car like that.
2. Push the cloth against the cement stains after you spray more liquid on it. After you have removed the large pieces of cement from your car, it is time to loosen the thin layers of cement little by little. Spray liquid on the cement stains several times and press the cloth against them. Hold the cloth against the stains for a few minutes to dissolve the remaining cement.
   • Repeat the spraying and pushing process until you have mostly or completely removed the cement stains.
   • Do not rub the cement stains with the cloth as this can damage the paint and make it virtually impossible to remove the stains.

   Tip: make sure you have a stack of cloths to hand. Use a different cloth each time you push against a cement stain. This way, you are more likely to be able to remove the stains completely.

   
   
3. Remove the last pieces of cement with car clay. Wet the stained areas with a small amount of water or the included lubricant before using the car clay. Apply the clay-like material to the paint with gentle circular movements to remove all small pieces of cement.
   • You can buy car clay at car supply stores and hardware stores.
4. Apply wax to the areas when they are completely clean. Put a thumb-sized dollop of wax on a lint-free cloth and rub the wax into the paint in small circular motions. Create horizontal or vertical rows of circles to cover the entire surface of your car, making sure to apply only a thin, even coat of wax. Then brush away the wax with a circular motion.
   • You can buy car wax at car supplies stores and on the internet.
   • Do not apply car wax until your car is dry and all pieces of cement have been removed.

Tips

• If you are unable to get the cement off your car or your car is full of it, make an appointment with a reputable garage to have it removed.
