Netflix offers subscriptions that allow you to buy unlimited movies and series for a monthly fee on demand can view. The service is currently available on a variety of devices, including computers, internet-connected TVs, Blu-ray players, game consoles, and mobile devices such as your phone. To change your payment information, you must log in to your Netflix account in a web browser

To step

Method 1 of 2: Adjust your payment details

  1. Log in to the Netflix website. The only way to change your payment information is to log in to your account in a browser. Open the Netflix homepage and sign in with your email address and password.
    • You should always go to the website to update your details, even if you normally only use Netflix on a game console or other device.
  2. Open your account page. Click on your profile picture in the top right corner and select "Account". Now the page opens with your account settings.
  3. Click on the link "Update Payment Information". This link is to the right of your current payment method, in the "Membership and Billing" section.
  4. Select the payment method you want to use. You can pay for your subscription with credit card, PayPal or iDEAL. If you want to use PayPal you can log in with your PayPal account. If you use a credit card, enter the details of your credit card. With iDEAL you first indicate which bank you have, and then you will be redirected to the iDEAL payment page.
    • The amount of the subscription is debited monthly with the payment method specified by you.
  5. Call your bank or credit card bank if the card is not accepted. If you are unable to specify a new payment method, it could be because of fraud protection. Call your bank to check if this is the case.

Method 2 of 2: Open a Netflix account in the United States with your Dutch credit card

  1. Enter your credit card number as usual. Most international credit cards can be used to open a US Netflix account, but it must be Visa, Mastercard, or American Express. Virtual credit cards such as Entropay do not work.
    • Some Visa prepaid cards may work, but support is limited.
    • You must be signed in to Netflix via a proxy service or geo-unblocker, so that Netflix does not realize that you are in the Netherlands.
  2. Create a fake US zip code. Netflix only asks for your zip code when you provide your credit card information, and Netflix only uses the zip code to verify that the card is being added from the US. Netflix does not compare the zip code with the zip code of your credit card billing address.
    • You need a zip code with five digits, so you can, for example, put a 0 at the beginning or end of your real zip code. Check if the zip code exists on the USPS website.
    • If you can't find a working zip code, you can always try 90210.
    • You can also take a zip code from a state where no sales tax is levied, because that makes a little difference every month.
  3. See if the card works. Send the updated payment information. If the payment method is declined, you can try with a different zip code.
  4. Contact your bank. Your bank may not allow payments to Netflix until you have given permission to do so. So call your bank and tell them you agree to this monthly payment to an account abroad.

Tips

  • You can also create an American Paypal account with your Dutch credit card and use this account for your Netflix subscription.
  • If you are unable to pay with your credit card, you can consider trying another payment method, such as PayPal or iDEAL.
  • Cancel your subscription before your new month starts. There is a safe margin at least a week in advance.
