Arceus is one of the rarest Pokémon in the series because you could only get it through "special events". The only two ways to get it now is through barter, or by using cheat codes to access the old "events". You can get Arceus in all Nintendo DS versions of Pokémon, but for the 3DS games you will have to transfer it. Arceus is not available in Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, FireRed, and LeafGreen.

To step

Method 1 of 4: Get your hands on Arceus without using any cheats

  1. Get the National Pokedex. This will unlock all of the Pokémon in your pokedex, allowing you to catch Pokémon and then swap between the different versions. The way you acquire the National Pokedex varies depending on the game version you are playing.
    • To unlock the pokedex in Diamond, Pearl or Platinum, you will need to complete two tasks: defeat the Elite Four and discover all 150 Pokémon in the Sinnoh Pokedex. You don't have to catch them, just discover them.
    • To unlock the pokedex in HeartGold and SoulSilver you will need to complete two tasks: defeat the Elite Four and capture 60 Pokémon from the Pokedex.
  2. Acquire Arceus via barter if possible. Arceus is an Event Pokémon, which means that it could only be legitimately obtained by participating in certain "special events" held by Nintendo. The last 'Arceus Event' was held in 2010 and there will be no more to come, meaning that in Diamond, Pearl, or Platinum, the only way you can get this Pokémon without cheating is to trade it with someone who obtained an Arceus through the 'event'.
    • Arceus is a very rare Pokémon, so you will probably only be able to trade it with someone for an equally rare Pokémon. Legendary Pokémon associated with an "event," such as Landorus and Deoxys, are good choices. If you have a Shiny Legendary, such as Shiny Mew or Shiny Rayquaza, these are also good choices to use as a medium of exchange.
  3. Transfer Arceus from another version. This can be done by trading Pokémon with yourself, or by downloading 3DS software as a pokebank that allows you to transfer Pokémon within one system. The steps to follow for transferring Pokémon will be explained here, varying depending on which versions you want to transfer between.
    • Since Arceus is not available in previous versions, you will at least have to transfer from Generation 4.
    • You can trade an Arceus from Diamond, Platinum, Pearl, HeartGold or SoulSilver, using PokeTransfer. In addition, it can be done through a normal trade from any of the Black or White games.
    • To get an Arceus to X or Y from an older version of the Pokémon, it will first need to be transferred to Black, White, Black 2, or White 2. Then you can use PokeTransporter and PokeBank to transfer Arceus to X or Y .

Method 2 of 4: Using Action Replay (Diamond, Pearl and Platinum)

  1. Get an Action Replay. If you don't have anyone to trade with, your only other option is cheating. You can purchase an Action Replay that works with your physical Nintendo DS system, or you can use an emulator with built-in Action Replay support, such as DeSmuME.
  2. Add the code to get the Azure Flute. This is the item you need to get an Arceus. If you are using an Action Replay cartridge, you must add the necessary codes to the cartridge.
    • Cartridge users do not need to complete the following steps.
  3. Boot your Diamond, Pearl or Platinum ROM file into DeSmuME.
  4. Open the "Tools" menu and select "Cheats". This opens another submenu.
  5. Select "List" from the "Cheats" submenu.
  6. Click the "Action Replay" button. A screen will appear in which you can enter an Action Replay code.
  7. Cut and paste the following code into the field:

    94000130 FCFF0000

    2000AA68 0000000A
    D2000000 00000000

  8. Click on "Add".
  9. Press the L + R buttons while playing. This activates the cheat.
  10. Go to any Pokemart and talk to the green man. He will give you the Azure Flute.
  11. Bring the Azure Flute to Mt. Coronet. Climb all the way to the top to the Spear Pillar. Here you get the opportunity to play the flute.
  12. Play the Azure Flute to access the Hall of Origin. A staircase will appear to enter the Hall of Origin, which is Arceus' hideout.
    • It is useful to save the game before fighting Arceus so that if you accidentally knock him out during the fight, you can easily try again.
  13. Fight and capture Arceus. Use a Pokémon with the False Swipe ability to lower Arceus's health without the risk of knocking him out. Once Arceus's health bar is in the red, put him to sleep then throw Ultra Balls at him until you catch him.
    • Arceus will be Level 80, so expect a tough fight. Make sure your team can handle it.

Method 3 of 4: Using Action Replay (HeartGold and SoulSilver)

  2. Add the code to get the Arceus. More precisely, this is the Arceus of the "Toys R" Us Event, "which can be used to start the" special event "in HeartGold or SoulSilver. If you are using an Action Replay cartridge, you must add the necessary codes to the cartridge.
    • Cartridge users do not need to complete the following steps.
  3. Boot your HeartGold or SoulSilver ROM file into DeSmuME.
  4. Open the "Tools" menu and select "Cheats". This opens another submenu.

    • Once you use this cheat, the Pokémon at the head of your team will be erased and disappear forever.
  9. Press "Select" to activate the cheat. The Pokémon at the head of your team will be replaced with an Arceus of any level.

Tips

  • Arceus is not available in X or Y. The only way to get an Arceus in these games is to trade it with someone else or transfer an Arceus from an older version by using it. the PokeBank and the PokeTransporter.
  • At the moment there are no working 3DS emulators that allow you to use cheat codes.
  • Action Replay has no compatibility with 3DS, so there are no codes for obtaining Arceus. If you need a cheat to get your hands on one, you'll have to use a code in an older version of Pokémon and then transfer that Arceus from there.
