This article will show you how to insert clipart in Microsoft Word on computers running Windows and Mac OS X. In newer versions of MS Office, cliparts have been replaced with Bing images, but you can still find and insert cliparts in Microsoft Word.

Steps

Method 1 of 2: On Windows

1. 1 Open a Microsoft Word document. To do this, double-click on the Microsoft Word document in which you want to insert the clipart.
   • You can also create a new document; to do this, double-click on the Microsoft Word program icon, and then click "New Document".
2. 2 Go to the tab Insert. It's on the left side of the blue Word Tools ribbon at the top of the Word window. The "Insert" toolbar opens.
3. 3 Click on Images from the Internet. You will find this option under the "Illustrations" section of the toolbar. A pop-up window opens with a Bing search bar.
4. 4 Enter a search term with the word clipart. Enter a keyword that describes the clipart you want, then enter the word clipartthen press ↵ Enter... Bing will start looking for clip art that match your search term.
   • For example: to find clipart with elephants, enter elephants clipart and press ↵ Enter.
   • You must have internet access to search for clip art using Bing.
5. 5 Choose a clipart. Click on the clip art that you want to insert into the Word document. A check mark will appear in the upper left corner of the image, indicating that the clipart is selected.
   • You can select several cliparts at once.
6. 6 Click on Insert. This button is at the bottom of the window. The selected clipart will be inserted into the Word document.

Method 2 of 2: On Mac OS X

1. 1 Open the Bing Image Search page. Go to https://www.bing.com/images/. The process described can be applied in Safari, Google Chrome and Firefox, but not necessarily in other browsers.
2. 2 Enter your search term. Enter a keyword that describes the clipart you want, then click ⏎ Return... Bing searches for images.
3. 3 Click on Filter. This funnel-shaped icon is on the right side of the Bing page, just above the search results. A series of tabs will appear below the search bar and above the search results.
4. 4 Click on Type ▼. This tab is located below the search bar. A dropdown menu will open.
5. 5 Click on Clipart. This option is in the middle of the drop-down menu and will leave only cliparts in the search results.
6. 6 Choose a clipart. Click on the clip art that you want to insert into the Word document.
7. 7 Save the clipart. Pinch Ctrl, click on the clip art, and then click "Save Image". The clipart will be saved on your computer.
8. 8 Open a Word document. To do this, double-click on the Word document in which you want to insert the clipart.
   • You can also create a new document; to do this, double-click on the Microsoft Word program icon, and then click "New Document".
9. 9 Go to the tab Insert. It's on the left side of the blue Word Tools ribbon at the top of the Word window. The "Insert" toolbar opens.
   • Do not click on the Insert menu at the top of the screen.
10. 10 Click on Drawings. You will find this option on the left side of the toolbar. A dropdown menu will open.
11. 11 Click on Drawing from file. It's near the bottom of the drop-down menu.
12. 12 Select an image. To do this, click on the saved clip art.
    • You may need to navigate to the folder (in the left pane of the Finder window) where you downloaded the selected clipart, for example, the Downloads folder.
13. 13 Click on Insert. This button is at the bottom of the window. The selected clipart will be inserted into the Word document.

Tips

• You can also insert photos from your computer's photo library; to do this, click Insert> Pictures.

Warnings

• Many of the images (cliparts) that Bing finds are copyrighted. They can be used for free for personal purposes (for example, in a presentation), but if you profit from it, your actions are illegal.
