Firefox Safe Mode disables some extensions to help you find the source of the problem. To continue using your browser, you need to exit Safe Mode, but sometimes you can't. In this article, we'll show you how to exit Safe Mode in Firefox.

Method 1 of 3: Exiting Safe Mode

1. 1 Open the Firefox menu. To do this, click on the "☰" icon. Safe Mode is a temporary browser state that is only activated by the user. In most cases, you just need to restart Firefox to exit Safe Mode.
2. 2 Click on "Exit". The Firefox window will close. For greater reliability, we recommend restarting your computer.
3. 3 Start Firefox. If your browser opens in Safe Mode, use another method to exit it. If Firefox crashes and automatically goes into Safe Mode, we recommend that you reinstall your browser.

Method 2 of 3: How to reinstall Firefox

1. 1Download the latest version of Firefox. Do this if you are having trouble getting out of Safe Mode. Go to http://www.mozilla.org and download Firefox on your computer.
2. 2 Close Firefox. Wait for the Firefox installation file to download to your computer; it will take a few minutes. Now close Firefox. If you have a second browser installed on your computer, such as Safari or Chrome, you can uninstall Firefox before downloading the installer file for that browser. But if there is no second browser, first download the file and then uninstall the installed Firefox.
3. 3 Remove installed Firefox. Now that you have closed Firefox and downloaded its installation file, remove the installed Firefox. On Windows, go to the Program Files folder and then to the Mozilla Firefox folder; on a Mac, navigate to the Applications folder and then to the Firefox folder. Find the browser file and delete it.
4. 4 Install Firefox. To do this, double-click on the downloaded installation file and follow the instructions on the screen. When the installation is complete, click Finish.
5. 5 Start Firefox to find out if the browser is in Safe Mode.

Method 3 of 3: How to enable Safe Mode

1. 1 Open the Firefox menu. To do this, click on the "☰" icon.
2. 2 Click Help> Restart Without Add-ons.
3. 3 In the Safe Mode window, select Run in Safe Mode. This mode will disable extensions, themes, and the like to determine the cause of the problem. When you restart Firefox, extensions, themes and so on will be activated again.

Tips

• To enable Safe Mode, you can hold down the Shift or Option key while starting Firefox. Therefore, if the browser opens in Safe Mode, check if the Shift / Option key is stuck.
