1 Use your thumbnail or pliers to remove the metal cover from the lighter. Begin to pry the shroud outward from the corner near the ignition wheel. Be careful not to bend the metal too much, as it will need to be reinstalled later. Also be careful not to injure your fingers!

2 Locate the tab that is located under the burner (the nozzle from which the flame comes out). The valve that regulates the gas supply is located below. The tongue itself is connected to a gear that allows you to adjust the valve.

3 Using your thumb, lift the tab up and off the gear. Slide it all the way to the left (clockwise), then put it back on the teeth.

4 Slide the tab to the right (counterclockwise). Turning the gear will be a little more difficult than usual.

5 Repeat the steps three to five times, then check the flame size. Sometimes the result may not appear immediately. If the flame reaches the desired height, put the metal cover back on the lighter. It is not recommended to make the flame higher than 20 centimeters, otherwise the lighter will "spray" gas, which may cause an accidental fire.

Tips

• This method does not work with Bic lighters as they do not use a plastic tongue. In this case, you will have to adjust the burner itself (nozzle) with pliers.

Warnings

• Any lighter that works can cause a fire. Do not play with fire in the vicinity of flammable materials.
• The larger the flame, the higher the danger, so be especially careful. For example, when trying to light a cigarette, a large flame can burn your eyebrows.
• Increasing the flame will invariably burn more gas, so it will run out faster than usual.
• With a large flame, the lighter quickly becomes hot, especially its metal parts. It is best not to use high flame for a long time and do not touch the metal casing immediately after using the lighter.
