Facebook Messenger can be used for more than just sending text messages. With the built-in shooting function, you can quickly capture a picture or record a video and send it to friends immediately. To share an earlier snapshot or video, browse the Gallery folder.
Steps
Part 1 of 2: Taking and Sending Photos and Videos
1 Open a conversation with the person you want to send a photo or video to. Upload a photo or video from your gallery album, or take a photo / record a new video and send it straight away via Messenger. All this can be done in the chat window.
2 Tap the Camera button if you want to take a photo or record a video. The Camera button above the text box allows you to take pictures and record videos and share them immediately in a conversation.
- If this is your first time trying to take a photo, the system will ask you to grant Messenger access to the device's camera. Allow access to the camera to unlock the shooting function.
- To switch between front and rear cameras, use the button in the lower right corner.
3 Tap the circular capture button to take a photo. Click the "Send" button to share the snapshot in the conversation.
4 Hold the circular capture button to record up to 15 seconds of video. Click the "Send" button to share the video in the conversation.
- To cancel recording, slide your finger off the button and then release it.
Part 2 of 2: Sending photos and videos stored on your device
1 Open a conversation with the person you want to send a photo or video to. Upload photos and videos that are already stored on your device.
2 Tap the Gallery icon to display the photos and videos stored on your device. Through the application, you can send not only photos, but also saved videos.
3 Tap the image or video you want to share. Two buttons appear on the selected image or video.
4 Tap the Pencil icon to edit the image or crop the video. The Pencil button lets you draw on the image, add text, and crop the video.
- Currently, video cropping is only available on Android devices.
5 Upload the selected image or video. When you're finished editing, tap the Send button to share the image or video in the conversation. It may take a while to download long videos.
- If you want to send voluminous videos, connect to a wireless network to avoid running out of mobile traffic.
Tips
- Photos uploaded to Messenger chats will not be added to your Facebook photo gallery.
