A Skype movie show is a great way to stay in touch with your friends or loved ones, even if they are far away. This way you will not only spend time together, but also spend it usefully. It is also a convenient way to hold festivities over long distances and just another opportunity to keep in touch. An event like this is simple enough to organize, and it won't hit your finances as much as organizing a real party.

Steps

Method 1 of 3: Create a Skype account

1. 1 Create a Skype account. Creating a Skype account is simple and completely free. Download the latest version of Skype and install it on your computer.Launch the app and follow the onscreen instructions to create a new account.
2. 2 Invite your friends. Up to 9 people can participate in a group call, but we recommend reducing this number to 5. Having more than 5 people will significantly reduce the quality of the call.
3. 3 Make sure your friends have a Skype account and that you have them in your contacts. Otherwise, they will need to go through a registration process to join your show.
4. 4 Schedule a time when all your friends are free. In addition to this, choose a time when the Internet connection is more stable. Try to avoid peak periods in your area. Typically, these are weekday evenings when people come home from work and school.
5. 5 Create a separate group to watch the movie. This will allow you to simultaneously contact everyone who has been invited to the movie show.
   • Mac users: Open the File menu bar and then choose Start Conversation. Add the contacts you want to the conversation. Then click on the name of the conversation to rename it "Cinema".
   • For Windows users: Open the Contacts menu bar and click Create New Group. Drag contacts from your contact list to the selection area below the empty group. The group name will automatically become a list of incoming contacts.
   • Right click on the group name to change it, and then type "Cinema".
   • Click on the icon in the upper right corner of the window that says "Save groups to your contact list." This will save the group the next time you start the application.

Method 2 of 3: Watching Movies Through Screen Sharing

1. 1 Open the conversation or the "Cinema" group and click on the phone icon to call all the contacts in the group. Wait for everyone to gather on Skype to start watching the movie.
2. 2 Insert DVD or Blu-Ray disc. You can also use Netflix or a similar service to watch a movie, but this can be overwhelming for a typical desktop computer. Turn up the volume and make sure everyone can hear the audio track. To improve sound quality, connect a microphone to your computer and attach it to the speaker.
   • If you want to provide better sound quality, spend the extra money to buy more advanced equipment. It will cost you between Rs 1,800 and Rs 2,500, but will provide much better sound for a movie show.
   • To enhance your sound with additional equipment, you need an audio splitter, with a 3.5mm plug on one side and two 3.5mm jacks on the other. You also need two RCA to 3.5mm jack adapters. Finally, you need a mixing console, headphones, and a microphone.
   • Take a splitter with two 3.5mm jacks and plug the single 3.5mm jack into the headphone output on your computer. Connect headphones to one jack and one of the RCA to 3.5mm jack adapters to the other to connect a mixing console. Connect the microphone to the mixing console as well. Insert the last RCA connector into the output of the mixing console, and connect the other end to the auxiliary audio input on your computer.
   • Sound adjustments will be made through the mixing console.
3. 3 Click on the "+" icon in the call bar and select "Screen sharing". Thus, all participants in the call will be able to see what is happening on your monitor. Play the movie and increase the size of the window so everyone can see it.
4. 4 Have fun and enjoy watching! As with a real movie show, you can talk about the movie while it is running, or pause it and just chat. This is the perfect catch-up if you plan on stopping your movie a lot.

Method 3 of 3: Syncing TVs

1. 1 Check with your friends about the viewing time. Watching a movie on separate TVs will take much more responsible planning.Each participant will need to obtain a copy of the film to include in their home.
2. 2 Have snacks and drinks ready. It also doesn't hurt to visit the restroom. Pausing a movie will make it much more difficult to sync your viewing later with friends. It is best to keep interruptions while watching a movie to a minimum.
3. 3 Call your group on Skype at the agreed time to watch the movie. Call the participants in the conversation or the "Cinema" group and wait for the connection to be established. Give each participant a couple of minutes to fully prepare to watch the movie.
4. 4 Queue the movie up for viewing. Start with a cutscene or stop the movie on a frame and tell others about it. This will make the need to sync movies much easier, especially if someone is using other ways of watching the movie, such as streaming.
5. 5 Start the countdown to start watching movies at the same time. This is the most difficult stage. Let one person count for all. Effortlessly and with fast forward and pause, you can tweak your movie to avoid annoying Skype echoes. Optionally, you can have everyone but one person mute their TVs.
6. 6 Start playback. You will be able to chat with your friends and see them on Skype, while each of you is watching a movie on your own TV. How nice it is to share the experience of watching a movie with friends and still be able to watch it on a big TV at home.

Tips

• Each of these methods has advantages and disadvantages. Use whichever method works best for you and your friends.
• Make sure that the screen does not have your email address and nothing personal, because during screen sharing, everyone can see everything on your screen.
• Make sure everyone has agreed on the movie and that your parents are allowed to watch it.
