Repair and repair leaks on your shower spray if a leak occurs at the spray nozzle / hose connection.

Steps

  1. 1 Unscrew the shower head. Use a spanner if needed.
  2. 2 Remove the rubber pad for inspection. If the pad is leaving black marks on your fingers, you need to replace it.
  3. 3 Measure the old gasket to get the correct size.
  4. 4 Place the pad in the shower head. It will take some effort to get it back in place. Make sure the ring is flat on the head.
  5. 5 Wrap the pipe threads with Teflon tape. Wrap the tape in the direction of the thread, slightly gripping the plane of the pipe. Make a couple of turns of the tape, pulling it tighter. You should be able to see the threads showing through the tape.
  6. 6 Tear off the tape from the spool.
  7. 7 Screw the shower head back into place by turning it by hand until it reaches the head.
  8. 8 Check the quality of the connection by turning on the water. If there is no leaking connection, then you're done!
  9. 9 If there is a leak, unscrew the watering can and screw it back on.
  10. 10 Check it out.
  11. 11 If the leak is nearly fixed, turn the watering can half a turn with a wrench. Do not over tighten, you may scratch the plumbing.
  12. 12 Check it out.
  13. 13 If the leak persists, start all over again, changing the Teflon tape, winding it up more. If the pipe is old, even more tape may be required.

Tips

  • Make sure to use Teflon tape and not plain tow. Teflon tape is much better, but more expensive.
  • If your showerhead twists off easily, wrap the joint with marine mastic or white lithium and let it sit for an hour or longer. Try not to overtighten the head! You can break the connection on the sprayer, or worse, on the pipe.
  • If you don't want to change your shower head, consider repairing the leak with special products. Resins that harden easily and seal leaks in 30 seconds are a quick fix.
  • Another option, if the nozzle does not scroll, is to replace the entire shower hose. Usually, a new 6 "(15 cm) spray can be purchased at your local hardware store. Follow the instructions on the package to unscrew the old nozzle and then install the new one. Be sure to use Teflon tape or lubricant on the pipe threads. Then screw the new shower head onto new hose Check for leaks.

Warnings

  • Start with no more than 2 rolls of ribbon. Using more tape can deform the joint and you will have to wash the ceiling immediately after checking!
  • Do not tighten the connection, you risk breaking the tip or scratching it.
  • This article is only concerned with the leakage of the showerhead connection, not a possible leakage from the faucet or the showerhead itself.

What do you need
