The clock speed of personal computers is reduced from nominal for significantly longer hardware life, less heat generation (and therefore dissipation), lower power consumption, improved stability, and reduced noise from mechanical parts for cooling.

Steps

1. 1 Access your computer's BIOS setup page (BIOS stands for "Basic Input Output System"). Depending on the brand of your computer, you will need to press keys for a certain period of time during the boot process. Some manufacturers require you to press the "Delete" "F2" or Alt> + keys, or a combination of other keys, while the system goes through the Power On Self Test (POST) or displays a logo on the screen.

6. 6 Decrease the core voltage (Vcore). Decrease these values ​​in the same way as described above (do not decrease it too much).

When finished, remember to save your settings before exiting, otherwise the old settings will remain in effect. If you think you have made a mistake, press the "Esc" key to exit without saving. Note: Not all computer BIOSes have "Frequency / Voltage Control" settings, they may be locked by manufacturers.

Tips

• Find or download and print a copy of the instructions for the motherboard or BIOS section of your computer.The exact method of accessing the BIOS will be described in it, as well as additional information on this subject and other values ​​in the BIOS pages.
• If you cannot boot due to incorrect values, reset the BIOS to "default" values. This can be accomplished by removing the BIOS battery for 10 minutes or so before replacing / installing or removing the jumper on the motherboard pins (or otherwise as described in the manual) and powering on the system.

Warnings

• Decrease clock frequency reduces overall performance.

• Decrease the clock frequency of the processor compared to the nominal annuls the warranty system on most computers, depending on the manufacturer.
