This article explains how to reduce the size of a PDF document using the Smallpdf.com online service, Viewer (Mac OS X), and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Using Smallpdf.com PDF Compressor Online Service
1 Open the site https://smallpdf.com/ru/compress-pdf.
- Install Smallpdf extension in Google Chrome browser if you want.
2 Find the PDF file you want.
3 Press and hold the PDF document.
4 Drag the PDF file onto the button Drop PDF herethat will be displayed on the screen. The file will download and be minified.
5 Scroll down and tap Download file . This button is on the left side of the screen.
6 Select the folder where the thumbnail file will be saved.
7 Click on Save. The reduced PDF file will be saved in the specified folder on your computer.
Method 2 of 3: Using the Viewer (Mac OS X)
1 Open the PDF document in Preview. To do this, double-click on the blue icon of this program, which looks like overlapping images.
- Click File on the menu bar and then select Open from the drop-down menu. In the dialog box, select the file and click Open.
- Viewer is an image viewer that comes with most versions of Mac OS X.
2 Click on File from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
3 Click on Export as. It's in the middle of the dropdown menu. A dialog box will open.
4 Open the Format drop-down menu.
5 Click on PDF. It's near the top of the menu.
6 Open the drop-down menu "Quartz Filter".
7 Click on Reduce file size.
8 Select the folder where the thumbnail file will be saved.
9 Click on Save. The reduced PDF file will be saved on your computer.
Method 3 of 3: Using Adobe Acrobat Pro
1 Open the PDF document in Adobe Acrobat Pro. To do this, click on the icon in the form of a stylized red letter "A" on a white background. Then click File (on the menu bar at the top of the screen), click Open, select the PDF document you want, and click Open.
2 Click on File from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
3 Click on Save as. You will find this option in the middle of the dropdown menu.
4 Click on Reduced PDF size.
5 Open the drop-down menu "Compatible with:».
6 Click on the latest version of Acrobat. By limiting compatibility to only the latest versions of Acrobat, the file size can be significantly reduced.
7 Select the folder where the thumbnail file will be saved.
8 Click on Save. The reduced PDF file will be saved on your computer.
