Apps are an important part of smartphones these days. This also applies to the Samsung Galaxy S4. If you update apps regularly, keep them working properly and keep them from crashing. You can update your apps automatically or manually.

Method 1 of 2: Update apps automatically

1. Open Google Play. To do this, press the icon on your desktop - this looks like a colorful button on a white background. Press the icon to open the app.
2. Press "Menu". Several options will now appear.
3. Press "Settings.This is one of the options in the menu you just opened.
4. Press "Update apps automatically.’
5. Now select one of the update options. You can choose “Always auto-update apps” or “Auto-update apps over Wi-Fi only” to automatically update your apps.
   • For the first option, you need WiFi or a mobile data bundle, which could cost you money.

Method 2 of 2: Update apps manually

1. Open Google Play. Find the Google Play icon on your desktop and press it to open the app.
2. Go to "My apps.’ This button can be found at the top left of the screen. If you keep the button pressed, a slider will appear on the screen.
3. Press "My apps" again.
4. Update the apps. If updates are available for your apps, you will see this under the Updates heading.
   • Press "Update all" at the top right of the screen to update all apps at once.
   • To update apps one by one, you can press the update buttons next to the respective apps.
