Gengar is a powerful ghost-type Pokémon that evolves from the Hunter, but which is quite difficult to get. You need to catch or get a Hunter (or Gastly, if you don't mind pumping him) through an exchange, and then exchange him so that he evolves. The haunter is not present in all games, so it will be quite difficult for you to get it without the help of a friend or a person who would exchange it.

Steps

  1. 1 Catch or get a Hunter or Gastly through an exchange. Depending on the version of the game, Hunter or Gastly may not always be found in the wild. If you find Gastly, level him up to level 25 to improve him into a Hunter.

  2. 2 Give your Hunter to a friend. The haunter is upgraded to Gengar after the exchange, so you need someone you trust to bring the Pokémon back to you. The exchange method depends on the version of the game.
