VKontakte (VK) is a Russian social network with over 400 million registered users. According to the Alexa ranking of popular sites, VK.com is one of the most visited websites in Russia and other Eurasian countries; access to VKontakte can be obtained from almost any country in the world. In this article, you will learn how to register a VK account from a computer, smartphone or tablet.

Steps

1. 1 Go to the website https://vk.com in any web browser convenient for you. You can use any web browser on your computer, smartphone or tablet. The welcome page of the VKontakte website will open.
2. 2 Fill out the registration form. You can create an account in one of two ways: using your name and phone number, or using your existing Facebook account. Fill out the form under the question "New to VKontakte?" in any of two ways and click on the button Continue registration.
   • If you register with your Facebook account, follow the on-screen instructions to sign in to your Facebook account when needed.
3. 3 Enter your mobile phone number. You need a phone number to verify your account. Select your country code in the "Country" section, enter your phone number (without country code) in the field, and then click on the button to get the codeto receive a confirmation code by SMS.
   • Whichever method you choose to register for an account, you will need a valid phone number to confirm your registration. There is no other way. If you don't have the phone number you want, or live in the United States, read our article on how to register a phone number with Google Voice.
   • Your phone number will not be displayed publicly on the VKontakte page.
4. 4 Enter the confirmation code from SMS and click the button Confirm. You may have to wait a few minutes for the SMS with the code to arrive. Once you verify your phone number, you will need to come up with a password (or log in with your Facebook account).
5. 5 Pick a password. If you are registering with a Facebook account, you will need to verify your Facebook login to complete the account registration process. If you register using your name and phone number, follow the onscreen instructions to enter and confirm your new password.
6. 6 Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the account setup. Once you come up with a password, you can log into your VKontakte account from anywhere.
   • If you have used a Facebook account, you will need to transfer your personal information in order to complete the registration.
   • If you want to log into the VKontakte social network via a smartphone or tablet, first download the official VKontakte mobile application from the App Store (for iPhone / iPad) or the Play Store (for Android).
