In this article, we are going to show you how to download music files from YouTube.Most services that download multimedia content from YouTube are unable to download copyrighted audio files; however, you can use 4K Video Downloader to download music from any YouTube video. If you don't want to install the program, please use the online video converter or VLC media player to download the video and then convert it to MP3 format. If you have a premium YouTube Music account, this will allow you to download music to your mobile device.

Steps

Method 1 of 4: Using a VD in a Browser

1. 1 Go to the page https://www.youtube.com in a web browser.
   • Any browser on a computer or mobile device will work.
2. 2 Find the video you want to download. Now play the video.
3. 3 Change the video address. Click on the video address in the line at the top of the browser window, add the letters “vd” before the word “youtube”, and then click ↵ Enter... Wait for the web page to refresh - you will go to the VDY service website and see the video you want to download.
4. 4 Select the picture or sound quality.
   • Scroll down the page and select the best picture quality from the list, for example, "HD 720 video". If you want to download audio only, select the “Audio only” option. Now click Download. This green button is next to the selected picture or sound quality.
5. 5 The video or audio file is downloaded to your computer.

Method 2 of 4: Using 4K Video Downloader

1. 1 Download the 4K Video Downloader installer. Go to https://www.4kdownload.com/en/products/product-videodownloader in your computer's web browser, and then click “Download 4K Video Downloader” on the left side of the page. When the installation file is downloaded to your computer, follow these steps:
   • Windows: Double click on the installation file and follow the instructions on the screen.
   • Mac: Double-click the installer, allow third-party software to be installed, drag the 4K Video Downloader icon to the Applications folder, and then follow the onscreen instructions.
2. 2 Find the video you want. Open https://www.youtube.com/ in a computer web browser, and then find or navigate to the video you want to download music from.
3. 3 Copy the video address. Highlight the video URL in the address bar at the top of your browser, and then press Ctrl+C (Windows) or ⌘ Command+C (Mac).
4. 4 Launch 4K Video Downloader. Open the start menu (Windows) or Spotlight (Mac) enter 4k video downloader and click (or double-click on a Mac computer) “4K Video Downloader” in the search results. The 4K Video Downloader window will open.
   • Skip this step if 4K Video Downloader launches automatically.
5. 5 Click on Insert link. It's in the upper-left corner of the window.
6. 6 Wait for the video to be analyzed. When the quality options are displayed in the 4K Video Downloader window, proceed to the next step.
7. 7 Click on "Download Video" and select from the menu Extract sound. This menu is in the upper left corner of the window.
8. 8 Change the format of the audio file (optional). The default is MP3, which is the most versatile audio file format. To change it, open the Format menu at the top right of the window, and then choose a different format.
9. 9 Select quality (optional). By default, the highest quality is selected - to change it and the bitrate, check the box to the left of the desired option.
   • Choose a lower bitrate to reduce the size of the audio file.
10. 10 Click on Overviewto select a folder to save the file. Select the folder on your computer where the new audio file will be uploaded, and then click Save or Select.
11. 11 Click on Extract. It's at the bottom of the window. The process of extracting music from the video will start. When the process is complete, the audio file will be saved in the selected folder.
    • Double click on an audio file to play it in the main audio player.

Method 3 of 4: Using VLC

1. 1 Find the video you want. Open https://www.youtube.com/ in a computer web browser, and then find or navigate to the video you want to download music from.
2. 2 Copy the video address. Highlight the video URL in the address bar at the top of your browser, and then press Ctrl+C (Windows) or ⌘ Command+C (Mac).
3. 3 Launch VLC media player. To do this, click on the orange cone icon; this icon is in the Start menu (Windows) or in the Applications folder (Mac).
   • If you don't have VLC on your computer, download it from https://www.videolan.org.
   • If VLC asks you to install updates, follow the onscreen instructions. This will ensure that you are using the latest version of the program.
4. 4 Create a new network stream. Network streaming allows content to be played from a web browser in VLC. To do this, follow these steps:
   • Windows: Click Media> Open URL.
   • Mac: Click File> Open URL.
5. 5 Right click on the field and select Insert. Do this in the Enter Network URL text box. A link to the YouTube video will be inserted in the field.
6. 6 Click on Play or Open. It's in the lower-right corner of the window. The video will open in VLC.
7. 7 Open the video codec information. For this:
   • Windows: Click Tools> Codec Info.
   • Mac: Click Window> Media Info.
8. 8 Copy the contents of the "Location" line. At the bottom of the window, in the Location line, you will see a long address. To copy it to the clipboard:
   • Windows: Right-click on the contents of the Location row, click Select All, and then right-click the row again and select Copy from the menu.
   • Mac: right click (or hold Control and left-click) on the "Location" line and select "Open URL" from the menu.
9. 9 Open the video in a web browser. This will happen automatically on a Mac, so skip this step. In Windows, open your web browser, click the address bar at the top of the screen, delete the contents of the address bar, and then click Ctrl+Vto paste the url. Now press ↵ Enter .
10. 10 Right click on the video and select Save video as. This will download the video to your computer.
    • You may need to select a download folder first and enter a file name.
11. 11 Launch VLC. If you've already closed VLC, launch it again.
12. 12 Open the downloaded video through the "Convert" menu. For this:
    • Click Media (Windows) or File (Mac).
    • Select "Convert / Save" from the menu.
    • Click on the "File" tab.
    • Click "Add", select the downloaded video and click "Open" or "Select".
13. 13 Click on Convert / Save . This button is at the bottom of the window.
14. 14 Please select Audio – MP3 in the "Profile" menu. It is located in the "Settings" section.
    • If you prefer a different audio file format, select the format you want.
15. 15 Click on Overviewto select a folder to save the audio file. You must select a folder to save the file and / or its name so as not to overwrite the original file. Select a folder, enter a name for the audio file, and click Save.
16. 16 Click on Launch. This button is located at the bottom of the window. The video file will be converted to an audio file and saved in the specified folder.
    • To play the created audio file, double-click on it.
17. 17 Force close VLC. If VLC won't close, follow these steps:
    • Windows: press Ctrl+⇧ Shift+Esc, find "VLC" under the "Processes" tab, click on "VLC" and click on "End Process" in the lower right corner.
    • Mac: open the Apple menu , click Force Quit, click VLC, click Force Quit and confirm if prompted.

Method 4 of 4: Using a YouTube Music Premium Account

1. 1 Sign up for a premium YouTube Music account. If you have a paid YouTube Music subscription, you can download music to your mobile device and play it without an internet connection. But downloaded songs can only be listened to in the YouTube app. Look online for information on how to:
   • go to a premium YouTube Music account on your computer;
   • switch to a premium YouTube Music account on Android;
   • go to a premium YouTube Music account on your iPhone or iPad.
2. 2 Launch the YouTube Music app on your mobile device. To do this, tap the white triangle icon on a red background.
3. 3 Navigate to the song you want to download. If you want to download a playlist, click on the "Library" tab in the lower right corner and then select the playlist you want.
4. 4 Tap the arrow icon to download the song, or tap the ⁝to download the playlist. If you download a song, it will be downloaded to your smartphone or tablet and will be available for offline listening. If you are downloading a playlist, go to the next step.
5. 5 Tap Download (if loading a playlist). The content of the playlist will be available for offline listening.

Tips

• 4K Video Downloader uses an algorithm to bypass the download restrictions imposed by VEVO and other music providers, so it can download almost any song from YouTube.
• If 4K Video Downloader cannot download music, please try again in 12 hours.
