Everyone wants to have attractive legs. And this takes a little time and effort. Doing your own pedicure is a great way to keep your feet clean, beautiful and well-groomed.

Steps

  1. 1 Trim or file your thumbnails. The nails should be filed straight, slightly rounding the corners and shaping the shape of the thumbnail. Never trim or file a nail to encourage ingrowth.
  2. 2 Spread your feet in a tub or basin of warm, soapy water, keep your feet in the water until it cools down. This will help soften dry, calloused or rough skin. You can buy a heel file from a beauty supply store and rub on dry skin.
  3. 3 Wet a toe file, apply soap to it, and rub gently in a circular motion over the entire heel and foot.
  4. 4 Repeat the procedure with the other leg. Let one leg continue to soak in the water while you work the other.
  5. 5 Remove your feet from the basin and pat dry with a towel. Using a cotton ball or orange stick, apply cuticle remover to the cuticle and under the free edge of each nail.
  6. 6 Gently push back the cuticle by continually dampening it with water or cuticle cleaner. Don't cut your cuticles, you can hurt yourself and get an infection.
    • If you have burrs or loose pieces of skin, carefully trim them off with a cuticle trimmer or nail clippers.
  7. 7 Remove excess cuticle cleaner with a damp towel. Massage each toe with a greasy foot cream or lotion. Let the lotion sit for 5 minutes.
  8. 8 For extra hydration on very dry feet, wrap your feet in a warm, damp towel after applying the foot cream. Wet a towel, squeeze out excess water and heat it in the microwave for 30-40 seconds.
    • Do not leave the towel in the microwave unattended.
  9. 9 Rinse both feet in warm, soapy water in a tub or basin.
  10. 10 Scrub off excess lotion or dry skin with an exfoliating cream such as apricot scrub. Rinse thoroughly and dry your feet.
  11. 11 Wipe each nail with nail polish remover to remove any remaining lotion or scrub.
    • Apply a clear nail base coat and let it dry completely. Then apply 2 coats of the nail polish you like.
    • Let the varnish dry.
  12. 12 Rub a light hand or foot cream on your feet, ankles, and calves.
  13. 13 Ready.
