The sword will likely be your first defense against the dangers of Minecraft. And your first sword will most likely be a wooden sword - but if you have enough other materials, such as stone or iron, then it is quite possible to create a more advanced sword.

Steps

Wooden sword (Windows, Mac)

1. 1 Collect wood blocks. Move the mouse over the tree, hold down the left button. Over time, the tree will disintegrate into tree blocks, which will automatically go into your inventory (if you are standing close enough). Repeat the process several times.
   • The type of wood does not matter.
2. 2 Open your inventory. If you have not changed anything in the settings, then the E key is responsible for this. You will see a 2 x 2 square next to the character's image. This is the crafting menu.
3. 3 Drag the tree blocks to the crafting menu. This will create the boards. Drag the boards back to inventory. You now have planks, not just blocks of wood.
4. 4 Split two planks into sticks. Place one of the created boards in the bottom row of the crafting menu, and place the second above it. You will get sticks that you will need to take back to your inventory.
5. 5 Make a workbench. To do this, fill in all 4 cells of the menu for creating items with boards.    • Playstation: click on the square.

3. 3 Create a workbench. The workbench will give you access to more advanced recipes, including sword recipes. So:
   • Use wood blocks to make planks.
   • Collect a workbench using four planks.
   • Select a workbench and place it on the ground (in console games, this is the left trigger).

Better swords

   • Stone is the most readily available material to be found in mountains or in multiple blocks under any surface. You can collect the stone with a wooden pickaxe.
   • Iron (its blocks are similar to stone with beige dots) is also quite common, it is underground and requires a stone pickaxe.
   • Gold and diamonds are extremely rare, located very deep underground.
2. 2 Craft a stone sword. To do this, you need two stones and one stick. Such a sword deals 6 points of damage, its safety margin is 132 hits (for a wooden sword it is 5 and 60, respectively).
   • As with any sword, the ingredients should occupy one column, with the stick at the very bottom.
3. 3 An iron sword. It will be a very reliable sword that will serve you for a long time. You will need iron ingots (more on that below). Such a sword deals 7 points of damage and has a reserve of 251 hits.
   • After mining iron, you need a furnace to smelt ingots.
4. 4 Golden sword. It's more for beauty, let's face it - although gold is a rare metal, the metal is soft. If you decide to smelt gold bars and create a sword from them, remember - it will only last 33 hits, each with 5 damage.
   • The only advantage of golden swords is that they are easiest to upgrade with higher tier enchantments. However, even with this in mind, many players dislike golden tools and swords.
5. 5 Diamond sword. Now you are really cool! Diamonds are the best material in the game and don't need to be smelted. The diamond sword hits for 8 points of damage, and it is enough for 1562 attacks!
6. 6 Repair your swords. Two damaged swords can be placed anywhere in the crafting menu, resulting in a sword that is stronger than the original two - combined! However, it will not become stronger than a completely new sword.
   • A sword that you have used at least once will be damaged. A color bar will be displayed under the sword icon, by which you can understand how long it will last you.

Tips
